Animals play an important role of human life. Wild animal is a kind that normally lives in the wild, for example: elephants, tigers, rhinos and many others. They live in the wild with spacious and natural environment, however many humans kept them in the zoo, as an attraction for the sake of the money. They didn’t think of the wild animals habitat, and there are some problems arise from keeping them in cages. The shock of being in captivity would depress the animals; they would even act hysterically and might hurt people near them. And it is not the animal to be fault. There are three main reasons why wild animals should not be kept in the zoos: Firstly, the ecosystem became unbalanced. If the humans kept the wild animals in the zoo, they …show more content…
Wild animals would not be wild anymore; the humans have tamed them. Their natural behavior will change. Some people agree that animals should be kept in the zoo. They said it would be safer for the animals and they won’t be extinct. The amount of possibilities of them dying, shot by hunters or any other reason, still higher than the chances of their survival. Food and shelter are provided, medicine, and their breeding is being controlled. And many of the wild animals in zoos are ones that are on the endangered list as their amounts are rapidly diminishing. Letting them loose and returning them to the wild is not necessarily a safe option. (Mylot, 2007) In fact, zoo can be one of the educational studies for children and people who are interested with animals. Zoo is the only place that we can have an opportunity to see animal’s life really close and sometimes we can touch them. Zoos also provide lots of information about certain animals, children can have chance to get out of the classroom and learn so they can see natural beauty from different species of animals. Even children can see them from discovery channel but that’s really different if you see animal in real world, for an example, if you see crocodile, snake or shark in the movie, maybe you won’t afraid than you see the real one. According to Tudge, (1992, p.56) Zoos are the place where people can study animals and their habitat, even scientist don’t need to go
To begin with, zoos must stay because it educates people. As mentioned in the text, “He says zoos play a major role in educating people about animals and promoting wildlife conservation.” In other words, the man explained that zoos educate people and teach them new things about animals that they haven’t known before. Furthermore, humans get an opportunity to view animals they never saw before. What the animal does can allow people to study animals and learn new things. Therefore, zoos are a requirement in our society considering humans get educated about animals.
Zoos across the world claim to be safe, suitable homes that replicate habitats of animals that are usually found in the wild. However, there is no possible way for wild habitats to be replicated well enough for animals in captivity to thrive, animals are often separated and withheld from living as they would in the wild. Despite their argument of being educational for visitors, the only thing they are teaching the public is that it is ok to take animals out of the wild and lock them up for their own enjoyment. Regardless of these claims, zoos are inhumane.
My first point is that if we let them all go in the wild, they will not be able to protect themselves from all the environmental hazards or the poachers, so they will perish more easily and quickly. The zoo’s job is to keep animals safe in an enclosed area from the outside where there are many dangers and well away from poachers, so the animals can produce more babies effectively in a well constructed habitat where the can grow up and increase numbers.
There have been many discussions about the welfare of animals since the first zoos were created. Some people agree that animals should be kept in zoo’s, they argue that it benefits the animals because their every need is catered to. However, in some zoo’s they are treated the exact opposite of being catered to. Sometimes the animals are also deprived of a natural environment that the zoo’s fail to recreate. However, zoo’s can be helpful educationally to kids. It gives them a close up on the beauty of the animals, but it comes at the animals expense.
Animals are deprived of their natural habitat when transferred from the wild open space of the wild only to be fenced inside a limited habitat. Peta.org explains “Elephants typically walk up to 30 miles in just one day, but Lucy, the lone elephant at the Edmonton Zoo, is locked inside a barn… spends most of her time indoors…”. This doesn’t only apply to elephants, but to many other animals. Preventing them from thriving, because of the limited space provided per animal. Additionally, this leads to health problems because of the restricted amount of movement, health problems like arthritis. However zoos are not only causing physical harm, but mentally making animals sick causing many cases of depression. Trapping animals in cages stressed them out and can make them unhappy taking matters into their own hands trying to kill themselves according to
According to the passage “The Impact of Animal Protection” it says “In the wild, animals share territory with other species, and the idea of survival of the fittest is very apparent.” it also mentions that the innate instincts they have to survive can be hurt and sometimes gone if they are kept in captivity for too long. The animals are more likely to be hurt by predators because they forget the their natural ways from when they were wild and untouched by the human kind. Others may say that it’s great for many of the to be in the animals to be in zoos mainly for the entertainment to them when they go to see the animals. However I still feel that it is not necessary for them to be locked away in the captivity of zoos for human needs they have their own needs to you
Zoos may seem fun to visit and exciting to see the animals; but what you don’t see is the suffering and depression that lies in these helpless creatures. There are many arguments whether or not zoos are good or bad, and if they should be removed or kept. Several think that zoos should be abolished or at least very much improved, due to animal cruelty. While, others want zoos to stay because it is beneficial for the animals and people. I strongly believe that zoos aren’t good for both the public and animals for numerous reasons.

Zoos are also educational to the everyday person on the wide variety of animals that are housed in the zoos from all over the world. Kids are able to explore zoos, while walking around and reading the different facts on all the different types of animals. This is a way for the youth to educate themselves in an interact way. Zoos are like a living museum and can teach younger children animals they cannot see in their own backyard. “What we learn about wild animals in captivity can help us manage and conserve them in the wild – from animal
Millions of animals are being kept at zoos and aquariums, with too little space, being watched by people every day and being beaten up if they don’t behave as “they should”. I don’t think that it can come anything good out of keeping animals at zoos.
With the short life span and illness that these animals go through animal activist argue that zoos are no longer education for both the researcher and the customer. Based on the information gathered by the animals rights group, they could infer that the researches can not study the natural functions of these animals based on their interactions in captivity and the illness brought open them by captivity. Furthermore, since these animals are dying at such a young age and the lack of predation and hunting
Not all animal should be in zoos because some may have had a family and they may have been taken away from them. Animals may have been losing their hunting, persisting skills. Imagine a lion feeling all blue because they have been separated from their family, friends, and nature. Eventually the animal is going to die of depresses. Animals need an enormous, wide-space environment to live. They would probably feel crowded like New York and they don’t want that…… do they?
Can you tell me where animals came from? Yeah, that’s right, they came from this magical place called the wild. Honestly if we didn’t have zoos some species would be not even surviving but thriving, Because the zoos do not have nearly enough space for the animals. Compared to their homes in the wild, the animals have considerably less space in captivity. The fake homes and environments can interfere with the animals natural routine as well, take elephants for example, they are used to walking, all day, i mean 30 miles a day and they can't do that very easily in a zoo. The consequence of this can be animals getting arthritis or other diseases. I know i talk about how we treat the animals and what i personally think about it, but let's take a second to think “what are the animals thinking?”
However, the harmful effects that zoos provide unmistakably outweigh all the benefits as these animals are not living the quality of life that they would have in the wild. Some may say that zoos save endangered species by giving them a protective home, safe from predators, habitat loss, and starvation. While zoos claim to be saving species, they are essentially causing animals to die prematurely. Nevertheless, allowing animals to live freely in the wild would provide them with a much longer life span. Zoos are incapable of caring for the animals properly. Zoos are unfair by jailing animals in unnatural habitats and the keeping animals restrained in tiny enclosures is obsolete (Zoos 3). Additionally, many people tend to believe that zoos are beneficial to endangered species due to the captive breeding programs they provide. In the wild, it may be more difficult for an animal to find mates and breed; however, “the vast majority of captive breeding programs never release these animals back into the wild” (Lin 2). After being a victim of a zoo’s breeding experiment, the offspring are forever a part of the chain of zoos and trading programs that exploit animals (Lin 2). So although captive breeding programs are viewed as a benefit to some, zoos are not as transparent as they may seem. In
Animals lose their freedom. Zoos usually take away animals from their habitat, and provide smaller enclosed areas where they cannot practice any activities wild animals should. In article “Should Animals be Kept in Zoos?” the author states, “animals are often bored and, as a result, some become aggressive and can lash out at other animals or zookeepers. In a study done on 40 chimpanzees in six different zoos, all of the chimps exhibited behavior their counterparts in nature did not. Some of these behaviors included rocking back and forth, tearing out their hair, self-mutilation, and the drinking of their urine.” It has been proven that zoos affect the animals behavior, and has led to them becoming bored and depressed. If they had lived in their normal habitat, they wouldn’t have to face behavioral changes. However, others say zoos are necessary for some animals to survive. In the article “Pros and Cons of Zoos” Jil Augustine states, “For example, zoos provide many different benefits to the animals that they may otherwise not receive. Some examples of these benefits are proper nutrition and medical care that they may not receive otherwise.” Jill stresses some wild animals do not get proper care. Although this may be true, others say national wildlife parks provide the same care and allow animals to be satisfied. Their behavior as well as their social lives are also changed due to living in a
