Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. Many people believe it is 100% wrong and even consider it to be murder. The definition of abortion is; “The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth.” These pro-life believers do not support the idea of abortion and believe it should be illegal. Many of these supporters do not know that if abortion were illegal they would still be performed, unfortunately by an uneducated staff. Over 70 thousand maternal deaths occur every year because of unsafe abortions. These women die, so the idea of supporting pro-life is contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro-choice. The choice of her keeping the child would result in her getting kicked out of her home, she’d be finically unable to support the baby, and she would lose her education. With abortion she would not have to deal with these issues, though she would have to deal with the emotional aspect of deciding to terminate the pregnancy. Pro-choice supports the idea she would learn from her mistake and that ultimately it was her choice to do what she wished with her body. Even though these “Pro Life supporters” think giving up your child for adoption is a better choice than an abortion, but those children would be forced to live in an unfit foster home till they age out of the system. After they turn 18 they are out on the streets what makes the women who would rather just have an abortion have to think about when they know their child is in a foster home and probably no better off than where they would be if she would have just kept it? You have to deal with the emotional circumstances after an abortion for a while but you have to deal with not knowing what the child you gave up has to go through on a daily basis everyday of your life is a lot harder than the emotional toll of an abortion Even though many people practice pro-life because of their religion, it may be surprising to learn that catholic women are 29% more likely to get an abortion than Protestant women, though they are as likely as all women to do
Many individuals fail to understand the sheer magnitude of bloodshed, tribulation, and despair legalized abortion has initiated into the human experience – both in the United States and worldwide. Far more human lives have been violently ended by this immoral decision than any other war or genocide in history. It is one of the most controversial issues in today’s society. Abortion is the intentional decision to murder a human fetus by chemical, medical or surgical procedures. Those who support the rights of abortion argue that women should be able to decide what can be done to their bodies, yet the unborn baby inside a woman is a living being, and terminating that pregnancy is the equivalent of murder. These innocent children should not be held responsible for your mistakes. Don’t terminate pregnancy now, because you may not have children in the future at all.
So, pro-lifers say every child has the right to live right? But what if an un financially stable mother is forced to keep the baby? Then the baby would struggle along with the mother. The child will not get their everyday needs and can possibly end up dying. Is this what pro-lifers want? So if pro-lifers don’t want this to happen, then they need to come up with a solution to provide the mother with some type of money, to care for the child. Another thing about abortion is that in some states, it has become more expensive. So if a woman cannot terminate her pregnancy, then like said earlier, her and the child problems would only
All I'm going to say is there is a difference between pro-choice and pro-abortion. Pro choice is understanding that you have no control over what another woman does with her body. Pro choice is understanding that people make their own decisions based on their life. Pro choice is not necessarily approving of abortion, it's allowing people to make decisions, which is why it's called pro CHOICE. If you are pro-life, you are saying an unborn fetus is equivalent in value as a born child. If a fire was destroying a building which an unborn fetus and a living baby we're trapped inside, and you could only save one, which one would you choose? A pro-life person would find it impossible to choose, because apparently they have the same value. A reasonable
For many years this issue of abortion has came out, giving a huge debate about it. Right now, in the United States abortion is legal but may be restricted by the states. The states have limited degree of power. Some of the laws passed by some states are the requirement of parental notification for minors, the term of pregnancy, the abortion risk information given to the patients for the procedure, etc. Abortion is becoming more pro choice. I wanted to research abortion because I didn’t really know anything about it when we had debates in class.
Many women have the intention of having children but sometimes their economic status or even themselves just aren’t ready to bear the burden of a child. Some politicians argue that the life of a fetus should always rule over whatever circumstances the mother is in but these circumstances could make the baby’s life worse than death. In the article The Choice to Abort Is Up to Women Mary Elizabeth Williams puts this point in words best,”And I would put the life of a mother over the life of a fetus every single time-even if I still need to acknowledge my conviction the the fetus is indeed a life. A life worth sacrificing.” Another solution politicians have to this problem is for mothers’ to put their children up for adoption or put them into foster care however, the chances of the child getting adopted is very slim and a life in foster care does not put a child in a good place. If every mother who wanted to get an abortion put their child in foster care then there would never be enough room or families to take care of the children, our government would have to spend mass amounts of money to keep all of these kids
Pro-choice people are for abortions. They believe it’s the mothers right to choose what she wants to do and what she wants done with her body. A fetus has been found not to be a person with legal rights, but laws have never stopped abortions, only made it unsafe for women. Abortions have positive benefits for the health and lives for women. Forcing a woman to have a child against her will is morally wrong. Adoption isn’t always an easy choice. A woman has to deal with child birth, and pain just to turn around and give up her baby. Another thing is she might not have the money to pay for hospital bills to give birth. Also in some countries contraception’s are unavailable or women can’t afford it. According to the “pro-choice action network” article, the brain structures and nerve cell connections (the thinking and feeling parts) aren’t completed until the 7th and 8th months. After 30 weeks is when the brain waves show pattern of pain can be perceived. Abortion is a necessary medical procedure. So if abortions become illegal it will only cause unskilled practitioners in unsafe
Even though many people practice pro-life because of their religion, it may be surprising to learn that catholic women are 29% more likely to get an abortion than Protestant women, though they are as likely as all women to do so2. In Christianity abortion has been considered homicide since Pope Sixtus V declared it so, but the debate didn’t become heated until the 19th century1. So even these pro-life supporters sometimes find the circumstances where abortion is necessary. An example of a situation where you may see this is in a given situation where bearing a child and giving birth would kill the mother because of health issues or womb complications the fetus would have. It’s said that the risks of death associated with childbirth is 10 times higher than
Forcing a human to do something with their body that they do not want to do is against basic human rights. There are a plethora of reasons to have an abortion: rape, incest, and birth defects to name a few. There are some woman in the world that are able to raise a child after being raped, but not all woman have that strength. Not all woman can bare to be reminded of what happened to them every day for the rest of their lives. Pro-Life also argues the case of adoption. If a mother does not want her child, why doesn’t she simply give it up for adoption?
Out of the 3,988,076 child births recorded in the United states in 2014 alone, approximately one-sixteenth or 249,078 of those babies belong to females between the ages of 15 to 19 (National Vital Statistics Reports). Although the amount of teenage pregnancies have declined in recent years, concerns involving a young woman’s capability to care for a child at a fragile age remains bold especially with the consistent controversial topics that coincide with teenage pregnancies such as abortion. Teenagers impregnated by accidental or forceful means often turn to the procedure as a safety route out of their current situations. Now that the topic of abortion has made its arguable reappearance into almost all aspects of human development, including
A child is a beautiful gift from God, and being a parent is a blessing for most people, but for others it can be a burden. Some women have abortions because they are scared to raise a child on their own, or because they are not financially, mentally, or spiritually ready for that type of responsibility. It’s been proven that after a woman has an abortion she is more careful sexually, and that she is very much aware that her act of being irresponsible comes with some consequence. I am not an advocate for neither prochoice nor prolife. But as a human being I do understand that abortion is immoral; abortion is the act of killing an innocent fetus that have rights to personhood but is unable to fight for it right at the time. However I am also
Pro-Choice, Not Abortion The decision to support abortion is the same as a decision to support free speech. In the US, a woman has the right to make the choice. Women have the right to make decisions about when and with whom they reproduce with. Fredrika writes, "No woman wants an abortion as she wants an ice cream cone or a Porsche. She wants an abortion as an animal caught in a rap wants to gnaw off its own leg" (Mathewes-Green, Real Choices, 19.) What Fredrika is trying to say is just because a person is pro-choice doesn't not make them pro-abortion, it makes them a person with a difficult decision. This is one of the biggest controversies of all times, some supporting abortion making them pro-choice and others who oppose this position
Like every argument abortion has two sides . The way you see it is up to you . We are Pro-Choice we support abortion and the woman planning on going through with abortion , it is your body and you should get the choice of what to do with it.
We live in a country where we are guaranteed the right to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of expression and many more freedoms that allow citizens do make decisions regarding their own well being. This holds true when discussing the issue of abortion as well; women should be allowed to make decisions on what they choose to do with the little baby growing inside of them, without having to worry about government interference that prohibits them from doing so. A pro-choice view believes that a woman is entitled to making the decision to abort her baby for a variety of different reasons. If giving birth to a child is going to cause physical harm to the mother in damaging her body or going to put her in a situation where either the child or the mother will survive, then no matter how difficult the decision may be, she should be allowed to choose to save her own life. If she is alive and healthy, then she can conceive another child. However, if the birth of a child were to take away life itself from the mother, then not only would it cause extreme amounts of grief to the family and put them in a dilemma as to whether be happy or sad about the situation, but the infant would also lose the love and nurture that every child is entitled to receive from their mother.
Mother Teresa once said, “The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion.” Ayelet Waldman once said, “Listen to the pregnant woman. Value her. She values the life growing inside her. Listen to the pregnant woman, and you cannot help but defend her right to abortion.” So what is the correct answer? Life or choice? Abortion is one of today’s most controversial issues and topics of discussion and it is also one of the topics which is immoral by the church and its Catholic social teaching of human dignity and respect for life.
Abortion is one of the most debatable subjects in the United States. It is one of the touchiest subjects of our time primarily due to widely varying beliefs concerning the exact moment at which “life” actually begins. There are many points of view toward abortion but the only two fine distinctions are "pro-choice" and "pro-life.” As expected, there are many people against abortion, these people are better referred to as "pro-life advocates,” they advocate the life of the baby over the woman 's right to choose. Pro-life advocates feel that there are other options other than abortion. Adoption, for instance, provides an alternative to abortion. Many pro-life advocates feel like, 'you choose to have sex, and now you must face the consequences of your actions. ' But what if you were raped? Should you be forced to have a child? Yes, they believe abortion is ripping away someone’s life that they don’t even get a chance to live. Pro-life activists have a moral agenda against the abortion of unborn fetuses, calling it murder. Their views are usually fueled by religious reasons and convictions rooted in Christian beliefs. While the general Christian stance is to be against abortion. However the issue is not as strongly rooted in religion, but rather in a concern for mothers, and their possible future children. The large gray area makes the issue of abortion very tough to resolve.
