Forcing a human to do something with their body that they do not want to do is against basic human rights. There are a plethora of reasons to have an abortion: rape, incest, and birth defects to name a few. There are some woman in the world that are able to raise a child after being raped, but not all woman have that strength. Not all woman can bare to be reminded of what happened to them every day for the rest of their lives. Pro-Life also argues the case of adoption. If a mother does not want her child, why doesn’t she simply give it up for adoption?
To have a complete picture of this debate, arguments from both sides must be heard and understood. One of the main tenets of the pro-choice movement is how reproductive choice empowers women and giving them control over their own bodies. To decide if or when they remain pregnant is extremely important to women from all walks of life, whether the circumstances are rape or incest, or whether they simply are not prepared to take care of a child at that time in their lives. Pro-choice advocates point out the possible negative effects of a mother bringing to term a child will constantly remind them of their attack, or serve as a punishment to the mother, all of which can be avoided when women are allowed to choose the right time for them. The US Supreme Court has declared abortion to be a "fundamental right" guaranteed by the US Constitution. The ruling in Roe v Wade was clear; women should have access to abortions if they want them. It has been proven that there is an association between unsafe abortions and restrictive abortion laws. The article states “The median rate of unsafe abortions in the 82 countries with the most restrictive abortion laws is up to 23 of 1000 women”, the median rate in nations that allow abortion is 2 of 1000. It goes on to say that “Abortion-related deaths are more frequent in countries with more restrictive abortion laws (34 deaths per 100,000 childbirths)”
Abortion shouldn’t be legal no matter the circumstances. Nobody should have the right to murder an innocent baby. There are thousands and thousands and thousands of homes in America that are willing to adopt. People need to put themselves in the baby’s shoes. What if that was you in the womb and your mom was about to murder you. Finally why go against the bible? The bible says it’s wrong.
Abortion in their eyes aren't given full right for any particular reason because rape is the only viable justification. The author has stated this within the article, "I'm disgusted that "pro-lifers" want to pass laws restricting my right to an abortion". It is considered unethical to infringe one's values or beliefs onto someone else in some philosophical views. Making abortion illegal is like making someone a puppet only to be told what they must do. This breaks the purpose of governments roles to protect the right of the people. This is a direct contrast to pro life views on government protecting life. Rape is a justification to abortion because it is an unwanted act on the woman to conceive a child through barbaric means by the male. In this, the woman who has been assaulted also may not be able to support the child, especially if they are young. Pro life believers think adoption is a better solution, but the child may experience a terrible start in life. Even if the woman was willing to give her child up to adoption it would be least likely. By instinct once a child is birthed the mother would protect their child and raise it however possible they can. This could lead to much stress and anger for everyone involved causing endless amounts of problems to be had. The possible revelation that they weren't wanted as well as knowing that the lady who gave birth to them has experienced a traumatic event is devastating enough. Both the child and mother would undergo severe mental damage. However, even if they wanted an abortion, some women are given harsh opinion through media outlets which invades the women's right to privacy. No one can be their own person if movements like these occur because humans are known to be free to choose whatever path they want to take. Even in this situation, it being unidentified murder or to give birth to life. "Women who
A third argument pro-life advocates have against abortion is regarding adoption. They believe that it is better for a woman to give birth to her baby at term and give it up for adoption than it is to abort it. They say that there are endless numbers of couples in the world that are not able to conceive or it is not safe for the mother to have children, that would be more than happy to adopt. As good as adoption is, the reality is that it can be very hard emotionally for the birth mother. Placing a child up for adoption can be very traumatic. The birth and the surrendering of the child may prompt various phases of grief including shock and denial, sorrow and depression, anger, guilt, and acceptance. Some women may feel it is easier emotionally to terminate a pregnancy in the early weeks while it is only a small bundle of fetal tissue. Going through a nine month pregnancy is a long and taxing process physically, mentally, and emotionally. In another situation, a woman may feel terminating her pregnancy is better than adoption if the father of the child has been abusive and wants to keep the baby. At that point, not only does that put stress on the mother thinking about the future for her child, but also brings more people into the decision, which can cause a lot of strain. Another issue facing adoption is the reality of many babies being born with serious physical and mental handicaps. Many women abort their children after finding out they have some sort of
How a woman uses her body is her concern only. If she chooses to have an abortion, it is her choice and that’s all that matters. Pro-choice is not the same as pro-death or pro-abortion. We are not suggesting that each and every pregnancy ends in termination -- only that the choice is there. It is going to be the person who is carrying that child who ends up with the responsibility of raising that baby, not the people who are picketing outside of the local PlannedParenthood. Perhaps if you are pro-life you can also just be considered pro-birth. Your main focus is to have a baby born, but not about a child raised, fed, or taken care of. If someone doesn’t want a child, then how are they going to take care of it? If we outlaw abortions, women
“Even though you can’t see them of hear them at all, a person’s a person no matter how small” (Horton Hears a Who). This quote helps describe why abortion is wrong. Pro-life means to support the lives of all innocent humans from birth to natural death. It is important, because anything opposing innocent human life is violating the fifth commandment: you shall not kill. This includes capital punishment, euthanasia, and abortion. There are pro-life groups that oppose these things; they take a stand and do things like educating the public about why abortion is wrong. One of these groups is the American Life League.
eceive one. Abortion is a women's right and an individual choice. Taking that away is an appalling act that is completely insensitive to a woman's situation. The pro choice movement keeps the accessibility to abortion legal, giving all women the right to choose whether or not they want to have an abortion.
As said, I believe that deciding whether to abort or not is not an easy decision for anyone, and that is why in my opinion, that hard decision should be left to be made by the woman in question. I am pro-choice because I think woman should be able to decide for themselves about their future, and nobody should restrict that freedom. I understand that there is a lot of morality involved in this issue with the fact that abortion is murderer, and people has strong positions about it. But at the end of the day, how I see it, is that nobody should force a woman to give birth to a child they do not want, because it is both not fair for the woman to be forced to take care and raise that child, and also it is not fair for an innocent baby to be born
People seek to force their moral beliefs onto others, grounded in their own religion or personal philosophy. Being pro-choice means you do not make claims on the morality of abortion. It is an individual choice for every woman faced with an unwanted pregnancy. The right to control your own reproductions is a fundamental right, and is protected both under our Constitution and basic human right ideals. Women themselves can decide when and if they get pregnant, give birth, and raise children. They have the right to prevent pregnancy, the right to get pregnant, the right to carry a pregnancy to term, and the right to terminate a pregnancy. A plan to keep women "in their place" is to attempt to limit their reproductive freedom. Which is nothing
Where exactly does life begin? Does life begin that moment a man and woman conceive
It was only three days after being born that I was flown to my new family in Illinois. If I had not been for a one woman’s unselfish decision, I would not be writing the words on this page right now. Abortion is an ethically wrong decision and option for a parent. It is illegal to take the life of another human being; by choosing to have an abortion, legally a parent is not willingly killing a human life. However, this choice is still seen as a murder to most people. Women should be forced to place their children up for adoption instead of a choice have an abortion.
The main issue that pro-life people have with abortion is that they believe it causes an unborn child to suffer. However, many children who's mothers want to have an abortion have a reasonable cause and the child is better off being aborted. Most unwanted children are abused and neglected. Some are born addicted to drugs. Why should we make innocent, young children suffer with being
The word “positive” is both feared and revered by women around the globe. A simple plus sign on a pregnancy test can be cause for elation or terror. Nearly half of pregnancies among American women are unintended, and four in 10 of these are terminated by abortion (Finer and Henshaw 2001). Abortion, legalized in 1973 by the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, is defined by the Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of Law as the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. Abortion is an inhumane, immoral way of avoiding parenthood. It is easy to understand how a woman with an unintended pregnancy may feel cornered, but an abortion should be on the
In the reproductive health context, abortion is still a controversial topic that still being discussed by many organizations and government body. The World Health Organization (WHO) show the meaning about unsafe abortion as a procedure for terminating a pregnancy performed by persons lacking the significant skills or in an environment, not in conformity with minimal medical standards, or both. In Cambodia, because of poor health care system and the poverty the women, especially in the rural areas are decided to get unsafe abortion services from traditional medical practitioners or other unqualified healthcare providers. These activities are really dangerous.
So many thoughts cross their mind like how do I even take care of him or her properly, and what if I do not tend to my infant the right way. Because of all these thoughts many women go the short way out and get an abortion. Another reason a great deal of people believe abortion should be legal is because it is the mothers choice. Pro choice is what people protest. A profuse amount of people affirm that a woman can do whatever she wants with her body. Even though she got herself in the situation of becoming pregnant, people state that it is acceptable to abort the baby because she should not have the full responsibility on herself when the father of the child is off doing his own thing. Pro choice people say more options puts a woman on more equal footing with men, instead of being someone of whom they can take advantage of. There is an abundance of conclusions to why abortion should stay legal in the United States. Strongly, people still are standing up for pro choice and pro test for the lives of the woman who decide not to go through with their
