Authorities began a manhunt for a Newark man suspected of taking part in a violent crime of murdering two police officers and even trying to behead his aunt and uncle. 38 year-old Michael Dale Vance Jr., is on the run after being suspected to be connected to multiple crimes that include the murders in the first degree of two officers. The two officers, Ronald and Valerie Wilkson died from several gun shots, stab wounds and both had large cuts on their necks. They too were almost decapitated. A large knife covered in blood, a blood-stained shirt, and shell casings were found by investigators in the victims’ home. The casings typically come from an AK-47 rifle. Two people were killed as a result of the officer. Quintonio LeGrier, 19 years old, and 55-year-old Bettie Jones were both shot and killed. Reports state that LeGrier was acting oddly and was carrying a metal bat around his father’s apartment. On Sunday September 18th. 2016. at approximately 8:30 PM an off-duty officer fatally shot a would be robber. The incident took place on the corner of Liberty Avenue and Merrick Boulevard. The off duty office was in route to his job for Allied Security dressed in his uniform when he was approached by the attempted robber. The attempted robber demanded that the officer hand over his gun and cash at gunpoint. After which the officer removed his weapon and shot the attempted robber. The injured man was taken to Queens General Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
