technology we have today for learning. It has moved on from the traditional classroom and whiteboard style to online learning with the supplementation of the mobile phone. There are various benefits of online and mobile learning however there are benefits that the traditional method of learning that technology cannot overcome. Online learning is the process of studying without having to physically attending classes or lectures and mobile learning is to help online learning more efficient by quickly
stage of development. As a result, the rates of many psychopathologies increase significantly among adolescents ages 10–16. Extensive research that shows that anxiety levels and disrupted social skills can be particularly high among adolescents with learning disabilities (LD). However, the origin of anxiety as it relates to LD has yet to be determined, making it hard to treat. On the one hand, there exists the “deficit in study skills” model in which anxiety is a result of low self-assurance and feeling
Learning something new can be scary. One of the hardest things I had to deal with, was losing my biggest motivator. It didn’t take me a lot to be motivated, but having my aunt and seeing how successful she was made me want to do better. Coping with my aunt’s death caused me to lose hope for a while. I figured if it happened to someone as smart and head strong like my aunt, it could easily happen to me. So, I had to learn how to motivate myself to keep going after I lost her. Success is a big part
‘on the job’ training which allows me to assess their progress, explore their knowledge and skill by observing and questioning their processes. This method of teaching falls in with Kolbs (1984) four stage experiential learning cycle. Figure 1 Kolb's (1984) experiential learning cycle (Gravells. A 2012) The learner carries out the task, reviews it and learns from it and continually applies the doing of this task in their day to day job (plan, do, act and review), as part of their training
students to do their work. As an educator, I have to be constantly changing my teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of the students and establish a learning environment suitable for learning. In order for teachers to become leaders, they have to keep educating themselves professionally and implement new teaching methods to enhance the learning of the students. In addition, effective teachers have to implement activities that are meaningful to the students and if the activities do not meet the
Reflection of Practicum Learning Goals During this semester, I focused on furthering my understanding of the basic skills and integrating them properly in therapy sessions and hoped to work on more advanced skills. I did well at focusing on improving my basic skills and not worry about choosing a model; I tried new skills/interventions. Moreover, trying new interventions was nerve-wrecking; however, it was also very exciting. Hence, some of the interventions that I used were implemented well and
Im researching dyslexia. "Dyslexia is a learning disorder, defined by a difficulty reading." There is no medical way to cure dyslexia, but treatment such as a tutor or specialized education program can help. Most kids can make it through school, just like Walt Disney. Cures Right now there are over three million U.S. cases per year, even though there isn't a medical cure many people can over come dyslexia. You can notice a slight difference
case in activities as some students have more experience in these areas. I do feel that no one felt left out in this activity, which means Rob successfully planned his lesson to ensure that no students felt left out which allowed for unselfconscious learning. The balance of Rob’s lesson between cooperation and competition was fair. The first half of his lesson involved the students being in groups of two allowing them to work together and develop skills in communication and teamwork. In the second part
foundation of traditional learning theorist, contemporary learning theories attempt to provide a more in-depth understanding of learning by advancing fundamentals or models to describe human behaviors and the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and values. In a similar fashion, Social Learning Theory by Albert Bandura and Learning to Be a Person in Society: Learning to Be Me by Peter Jarvis challenged traditional theories by introducing new concepts of acquiring learning through behavior and societal
Teaching Reflection/ Improvement Plan I learned about the different learning styles from Kolb. There is the Converger, Diverger, Assimilator, and Accommodator. Convergers learn by thinking and doing. They learn by taking their ideas and put it into practice. Divergers learn by feeling and watching. They will take experiences and think deeply about them and start with the “why”. Assimilators learn by thinking and watching, and will use the cognitive approach rather than thinking. Accommodators learn
