Onychocryptosis, or ingrown toenail, is a very common nail disorder in which the nail edge extends into the periungual dermis. It most typically affects the hallux and has a biphasic appearance, with the second and fifth decades being the most prevalent. A callus is an entirely natural, superficial, round, and thickened spot of epidermis created by pressure or friction on the hands or feet. Calluses are particularly prevalent on the heels and balls of the foot. While calluses are beneficial in preventing harm to the underlying skin, they are unattractive and can be unpleasant.
