Question
What happens when (write reactions involved) iv and v
(i) Acetophenone reacts with phenylmagnesiumbromide in presence of H20 and then product is treated
with PC15.
(ii)A cyclic organic compound A was allowed to react with NaOH+CaO to produce B which on
dehydration produces C. C on ozonolysis produces D which was then oxidized to produce a
dioicacid with 6 carbons. Write the reactions involved and identify A, B, C and D.
(iii) N-methylethanamine is treated with acetophenone and the resulting product is dehydrated
(iv) Carbondioxide reacts with very limited amount of phenylmagnesiumbromide (1:1) and resulting
product is hydrolyzed. The resulting product is treated with glycol (CH2OH-CH2OH).
(v)Cyclohexene is oxidized with acidified KMNO4 and the product is treated with 1,2-ethandiol
