ANSWER QUESTION BY QUESTION PLEASE !!

Inappropriate dietary intake and inadequate nutritional rich diet consumption were the prime risk factors for mortality in 2010 globally. And people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) do not consume fruits and vegetables in adequate amount as depicted in the guidelines mentioned by Saudi Ministry of Health (MOH).

Numerous suggestions by World Health Organization, the United States Department of Agriculture, and Department of Health and Human Services are present to ameliorate diet and escalate the consumption of fruits as well as vegetables.

Step 2: Summarize the article on dietary intake of fruits and vegetables

The survey suggested very less intake of fruits and vegetables. The diet consumed by the KSA people do not meet the recommended guidelines on adequate intake of fruits and vegetables by different age groups as suggested by CDC and WHO which shows critical current situation in the KSA.

To encourage people of KSA, healthcare programs should be held to alleviate the risk of diseases and burden on health care organization and family members.

The research findings suggested that previous survey and after much efforts put by MOH to escalate the intake of fruits and vegetables. So, currently, there is an increase of at least 2% of people aged between 15 and 64 years of the KSA who consume minimum of 5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.

The consumption of healthy diet vary according to regions of the KSA. Although, no regions had high level of consumption but region 'Asir' had healthiest and highest intake of healthy foods like fruits and veggies. At least 9.6% of the residents meet the present guidelines.

There are various reasons for the nutritional gaps:

  • KSA people do not produce fruits and vegetables adequately due to their kindom's climate. They consume dates only which are grown in the kingdom abundantly.
  • Only dates and tomatoes were the foremost fruits and vegetables grown and other fruits and vegetables were imported which cost billion dollars to the Kingdom because the recommended intake of fruits and vegetables intake were not met by the people of the Kingdom.
  • The KSA were not able to produce and import sufficient amount of healthy food like fruits and vegetables to meet the needs of the population. They should produce and important more veggies and fruits to meed the expected needs of their population.
  • The prices of these healthy food products in the Kingdom vary highly and escalate around holidays mostly, particularly in the Ramadan month when demands are high. The higher cost of fruits and veggies averts the major population to buy these products regularly.
  • Major shift take place in this recent years as people started consuming high fat, calories and sugar containing diet which causes obesity and various cardiovascular diseases. So, behavioral changes can be seen.

To encourage people of the KSA, various health care campaigns should be held to make people aware of benefits of inculcating healthy food habits and make them understand the health risks and diseases if adequate amount of health foods like fruits and veggies are not consumed.

In schools and colleges, various subjects and courses releted to diet and health care should be introduced to make students learn and understand the prime important of health and how to inculcate habits of consuming healthy diet.

Every age groups should be aware of the benefits of inculcating healthy eating habits and be responsible enough to take care of themselves and they should not be dependent on any family member. Each member should be self dependent and maintain a healthy lifestyle so that they can prosper in their life.

Therefore, from above explanation, it is clear that people of the KSA should be encouraged more to intake fruits and veggies and maintain a healthy lifestyle and cut the consumption of high sugar rich products. There should be more health programs  and awareness campaigns held to encourage Saudi people.
