E. Edwin Carington opined that the implementation of the CSME was the best chance of the region coping in the face of globalization. He urged Member States to facilitate the implementation of the Single Economy, "thereby completing the process of establishing a more competitive Caribbean Regional economy". Current Scenario: 17 years has passed since those statements were made by the then Secretary General. The Conference of Heads of Government CARICOM are scheduled to meet in one month. Your Head of State will be making a Presentation at this Meeting reviewing the competitiveness of CARICOM economies in the face of globalization. Group Task: Research the extent to which the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) has established the region as a "more competitive Caribbean Regional economy" in the face of globalization and Prepare the Presentation for you Head of State.
