Jordan is trying to find the best place to sell some corn he has been storing since the last harvest, so he calls around to the various elevators asking how much they would pay for 5,000 bushels of corn. KLM tells Jordan they will buy 5,000 bushels of corn for $6.00 a bushel if he brings it in by the end of the month. Jordan responds, "That sounds good. I'll see you soon." KLM sends a letter to Jordan the same day confirming his agreement to bring the 5,000 bushels in by the end of the month. Prior to delivering the corn to KLM, Jordan finds out another elevator has raised its rate and is willing to pay $6.25 a bushel. Jordan sells to that elevator instead. The end of the month comes and goes, and KLM calls Jordan asking where he is with the 5,000 bushels of corn he contracted to sell them. Jordan tells KLM that he has changed his mind about selling them the corn. KLM tells Jordan he has breached their contract.
