A lot of people will argue, that college is too expensive. Not everyone can go to college, for financial reasons. Also, they may get into college, but end up having to leave because they cannot afford the remaining balances; or, they received financial aid, but end up having to take out loans they are going to be paying back forever. It is like once they graduate they will be working mostly to pay off their student loan debt. This also discourages some students. In some cases, they will not even take the initiative to try because it is so costly. I do not understand why it cost so much to want to better yourself, and possibly put us in debt for the rest of our life just to receive a higher education. This job will pay them enough to own possessions such as a house, a car, or to afford vacations. Indeed, I agree with Wilson because she argues that some people might not consider going to college because they are afraid they would not be able to pay it back. But, if they get a college education they have more opportunities than not getting a college education; the reason is that someone applies to a job and they have a certificate they will have more options to get selected for a higher paying position. Some data that back ups my position is the data Wilson analyses, which relieved that, “a college graduate can expect to earn nearly to $1 million more in lifetime earnings that a high school graduate can” (260). I notice in this analysis that the college is the best option in order to have more earning which will optimize greater possessions of things.
The Case Against College, a paper written by Linda Lee, talks about the disadvantages of college, and how she doesn’t believe that college is worth it. She provides many good points pertaining to why she believes college isn’t worth it, such as providing statistics of the amount of people who get bachelor degrees or higher. She explains that as her son was going to college, she soon asked herself if he was really getting $1,000 a week's worth of education. Although Linda Lee has many good points, I would have to disagree with her about how college isn’t necessary. College shouldn’t just be seen as going to learn, it is also a big experience.
Pascal-Emmanuel Gobry, “The Reason Why College Is So Expensive Is Actually Dead Obvious,” and Ethan Siegel, “Why College Is So Expensive, And How to Fix It,” is based on what the reason behind a rising tuition actually is which could be vital for a nineteen-year-old female Pagan entering into
