P1 Goal Setting
After high school, my goal is to survive the summer and go boot camp for the Navy that is in Illinois by taking a plane. I am shipping out August 11th and will be in boot camp for 9 weeks then move to “A” school to learn welding for my job as a hull tech. The government provides everything I need like clothing, food, transportation. After I go to a school I get assigned to a ship anything from a patrol boat to an aircraft carrier.
Hull maintenance technicians do tasks that are needed for the fabrication, installation and they repair different kinds of shipboard structures. They weld the hull and do the plumbings and the ventilation. They also work as firemen on the ship trained in fire suppression. welding is used for many things like

There is even a type of welding for high pressure fuel lines that have broken and are spraying fuel, it involves bathing the area of weld in nitrogen.
The different gases produce a different weld because of the way the electricity flows through the arc contacting the base metal
P3 Skills and Requirements
The skills needed for welding are a steady hand for clean weldings, a stable head for welding in difficult or stressful positions, you need to be able to do at least basic math, also endurance, and problem solving.
P4 Personal Skills and Experience
In high school i took metal fab classes and i work part time at a metal fabrication shop. In high school i learned how to weld and the basics of metal work.
P6 Risks and Safety of Career the risks are burns and welding flash, and dropping metal there is risks of poisoning if not done correctly and not done with the proper safety equipment. you need to know about the msds and what it contains. During welding you need to wear a mask a welding jacket and you don’t weld on carpet or flammable
Welding is a process used to join metal parts by producing a coalescence, called a weld, at a joint. Advances in welding technology have opened the way for innovative designs in structures and machinery. Of modern welding processes, the greatest number fall under the general classifications of arc welding, gas welding and cutting, resistance welding, and brazing.
Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, also sometimes called Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) is a process that was developed in the 1940s for welding aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. MIG welding is an automatic or semi-automatic process in which a wire connected to a source of direct current acts as an electrode to join two pieces of metal as it is continuously passed through a welding gun. A flow of an inert gas, originally argon, is also passed through the welding gun at the same time as the wire electrode. This inert gas acts as a shield, keeping airborne contaminants away from the weld zone.
Becoming a pipeline welder is a quest unto itself because it has so many requirements in not only educational preparation and personal qualities but also in the the daily expectations for this career.
Although there are many career choices out there in the world I would love to be in the career in welding for multiple reasons. I chose this career because i love the fact that there's multiple different types of welding positions, and it's a great trade to meet new people and work hard in.i decided on this career because i have had experienced with some welding and i enjoyed it. i even researched some different techniques you can use to weld different types of metal. There are specific personality types or skills required for this career. some are interpersonal skills such as being self motivated. Also having a skill of problem solving will help to. “Math and science skills are used daily for welders because they have
The temperature requirement for forge welding is upto 90 percent of the melting temperature of individual metals. Steel has a lower temperature requirement than iron. The metal may have a shining or wet finish at the welding temperature. Care must be taken to avoid overheating of the metal to the point
Safety when welding is very important and should be considered the most important thing to take in consideration. You should always wear a very burn resistant glove; leather is commonly used by most. Next is a wear non-tattered or protective clothing just in case some
When a business breaches a contract, serious consequences can occur resulting in damages and losses. An expected service or agreement that is not complied with impacts everyone involved. A breach of contract can reduce earnings while also potentially harming future profits. It also puts a company’s value at risk if it cannot satisfy demands for products or meet deadlines. Often, monetary damages result from breach of contract claims. Claims are most often made by party who met its requirements against the party it alleges has not. Damages involved are typically lost revenues, sales impacts involve claims for lost value, and added costs resulting from the breach. Damages estimates are made using historical information and projections to support a plaintiff’s claim
Identifying needs Identifying needs is a type of function of research. Identifying needs is when any type of information is collected for research to help people with their needs. This may include if a patient has been referred to a health and social care environment such as hospital, they would usually get a medical history based on the past and current health statues of the patient. This would be beneficial to the doctors as it will help them to make the patient have examinations based on their health condition. Highlighting gaps in provision
Welding is a great career choice for a person not wanting to go to college. There are all different types of welding careers to explore, and a person can choose the one he would most enjoy. The wages of a welder are better than most technical jobs. When you go to welding school you can start working a lot faster than any other career. Trained welders seldom have trouble finding gainful employment.
To become a welder you need to know a lot , different rods, different types of welding to learn all this you need the right training , there are many technical schools and colleges where you can go to find out the basics of welding. there are many types of welding one of the biggest is stick welding there is also flux core, tig, mig. on the pipeline there is a lot of
If you want to be a welder, and actually have a career, you can go to a welding school and learn how to weld, or you can try to be a welders helper and just learn the trade. Welding can be a tough job if you don’t know what you are doing or you do not enjoy doing it. Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials together (Modern Welding). This is the process that uses fuel gases and oxygen to make a molten pool of metal to fuse together two pieces of metal, called puddeling (oxy-fuel welding and cutting. Wikipedia). If you decide to weld as your profession, most welding school students have little trouble finding jobs and finding people certified to weld correctly (Welding.Wikipedia).
This job is not taught to you,it’s moderate,on the job training. The skills needed would be to calculate dimensions, inspect structures or materials,Ignite torches and monitor your electric box and welder to avoid overheating.(Occupational Outlook Handbook.)
The reason it's required for you to have these certifications is because some metals or steels have different type of elements put into them and need to be treated a certain away to avoid any type of injury to yourself or for others around you. One college that offers these certifications and prepares for welding is Texas State Technical College. TSTC gets you prepared and offers certifications that you need for any type of welding you plan on going into such as pipe welding, fabrication welding, inspection welding, underwater welding, or even field welding. According to American Welding Society You can get as many as many as 15-30 different certifications throughout your career in welding. The reason why TSTC is a good college and very well known is not only because the certifications but also because the tuition cost, and the distance from home for those who live in the southern part of
Most physically hazardous injuries a majority of the time will be from burns and normally be from a chemical burns or burns from flames or explosions. Welding metal can switch metal to a temporary hazardous material which can cause burns, by physically changing the metal by increasing the heat that is applied to the metal whether aluminum or steel and or some of other alloy. According to OSHA “The intense light associated with welding operations can cause serious and sometimes permanent eye damage if operators do not wear proper eye protection. The intensity of light or radiant energy produced by welding, cutting or brazing operations varies according to a number of factors including the task producing the light, the electrode size and the arc current” (OSHA 2012).
GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) is more economic; Springer reports that “ GMAW is an economic process because it has higher speeds and higher deposition rates than manual arc welding. There is also no need to constantly change electrodes” ( Page 11). GMAW has a higher speed, which means that you can get the job done faster. It also has high deposition rates which makes the weld look clean and smooth.” This method can be used for a high range of work, but it is not suited for repair work because of it’s weld quality” (Page 4). This process can be used for many variations of work including root welds, joints, T’s, butts, laps, and many more applications. Even though its used for many practices, it is not recommended to use this method for
