Alongside the entrepreneur spirit, Innovation is the process of taking new ideas and implementing them into the market. Key word being “new”, an innovation can be sometimes viewed as the application to better solutions that meet new demand-requirements, inarticulated needs or existing market needs. Innovative ideas range from: goods, services, products, processes, services, technologies or ideas that create value for which customers will pay for. For an idea to be an innovation, it must be replicable at an economical cost and must satisfy a specific need. This means is that one must be ready and willing put their new idea to the test. On the other hand, there is recognition that “innovation is also critical to cultural, environmental, social, and artistic progress as well” (Bullinger, 2006). With this stated, high-tech innovation is ultimately the reason why we can be thankful for the many new conveniences of the 21st century. Although we might see the forefront of innovation being very prominent in today’s world, innovation is truly nothing new. From the start of modern man times, innovative ideas have paved the way for civilization to advance and develop into what we are today and at the same time, we have barely begin to chip away at the tip of the iceberg of our true human potential. Grand Canyon University is a private Christian association founded in Prescott, Arizona by the Southern Baptist Church in 1949. With six different locations, Grand Canyon University is found predominantly throughout Arizona and with one location in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The main campus was specifically situated in Central Phoenix, Arizona in 1951 with the surrounding of an urban community that is still intact today. Servant leadership is one of several models that have some basis in ethics, according to Northouse (2013), in this way servant leadership distinguishes itself from trait, path-goal or transformational models. The aim of this paper will be to examine on attribute of servant-leadership, describing how the principles might be applied, and the impact of such an approach, in a practical setting. The second part of this paper will evaluate servant leadership’s relationship with the Christian religion and ask whether the model is compatible with other belief systems.
Servant-leadership is widely researched and discussed from a secular and Christian worldview (Fischer, 2010; see also Blanchard & Hodges, 2005). A Christian is called to follow God in all he does but life experiences can be conflicting in dealing with the spiritual and secular context; however, Christ wants his followers to operate within the context of the secular world. True servant-leadership is to emulate how Jesus led those around him - with complete selflessness and by serving others. Invention is the result of a long study, research, and experimentation (Innovation, n.d.); Innovation is “the discovery and the execution of pioneering ideas that create value” (Greco, 2011), in other words, new application of known concepts. A practical example of invention is the alkaline battery that provided a light-weight, small, and portable power source; innovation applied this concept to anything possible from communication devises, mecanich and construction tools, and even toys. Technical workstream leaders understand that innovators are today’s competitors reducing times, and maximazing profits with new techniques; but inventors have the potential to reshape the landscape of today’s markets leaving dominant companies out of bussiness. Innovation is an idea that must be cost-effective and must gratify a precise need. Innovation includes careful application of information, imagination and creativity in stemming greater or different values from resources, and includes all processes by which new ideas are generated such as brainstorming and converted into useful products.
In the book Where Good Ideas Come From by Steven Johnson, he shows his readers that great ideas come from ordinary involvement and he uses the history of inventions/innovations to back up his theories. Steven Johnson’s writing is meant to explain how to achieve good ideas and what we can do to advance the ingenuity of our environment. Throughout this piece of work, Johnson illustrates seven theories of innovation of how inventions happen, these consist of; The Adjacent Possible, Liquid Networks, The Slow Hunch, Serendipity, Error, Exaptation, and Platforms. Where Good Ideas Come From advises that in the end sincerity and connection may be more respected to innovation than to a full extent competitive humans.
Being innovative does not only mean inventing. Innovation can mean changing the business model and adapting to changes in the environment to deliver better products or services. Successful innovation should be an in-built part of a business’s strategy to create a culture of innovation and lead the

Innovation is normally used to denote the process that takes place when a product or a process is developed, from idea to market; the concept of invention only denotes the process that takes place when new ideas or solutions are generated. Baumol (2002) argues “is it possible to have lots of inventions and still lack innovations. Nevertheless, inventions are a necessary precondition for innovation”.
Since this article was a systematic literature review, the authors did not provide their own definition of servant leadership and thus the theory remains under-defined. Parris and Peachey note that most researchers quote Greenleaf’s definition of servant leadership verbatim.
Companies live and breathe innovation; or, at the terribly least, notice it basic to their success. Such companies are those that others ought to emulate for they recognize that to do business, as Peter Drucker prompt in an exceedingly recent Harvard Business review article, “Every firm—not simply businesses—needs one core competence: innovation.”
My essay will be looking at servant leadership in the continent of Africa and how effective it has been. In the past few decades after countries in Africa seized being under colonial rule, there has been a misconstrued notion that “All leaders in Africa are corrupt” and that it struggles heavily with ethical leadership. It cannot be denied that certain leaders in African countries have made questionable decisions but the same can be said for many other leaders in different continents. My thesis aims to uncover that there are leaders in the continent that do adopt the concept of Servant Leadership. If I was to say servant leader and Africa in the same sentence I am sure the first name that will come to mind is Nelson Mandela. A man globally known for his fight against apartheid in South Africa and his compassionate personality and dedication to the African people’s struggle.
