In the 60s teen suicide was almost nonexistent, however it has been a growing problem ever since then. Donna Gaines explores this with her article Teenage Wasteland following the Bergenfield incident. Gaines conducted research to find out why these suicides were happening, and what led 4 teens to take their lives together. The movie Crash; an academy awarded film sufficiently and precisely combines all of the viewpoints and sociological perspectives/issues together. It follows 18 different characters, each very unique, bearing different characteristics and issues that have been acquired due to societal dilemmas. These characters vary widely with gender, race, age, culture, social classes that insinuate diverse situations that shows how society has acted upon the individual, all in a negative manner. For instance the culture/language barrier between the Persian shop owner and the Hispanic locksmith creates tension between the two. The locksmith was not able to fix the door since the door was broken, however the Persian shop owner was not able to understand this because of the language/culture barrier. Because of this the shop owner decides to take out his anger in the form of violence and almost shoots he locksmiths daughter. The difference between culture and language creates violence between the two men because of the incomprehension of the other individuals culture and aspects of thought in relation to the other. If you take on this issue with a sociological imagination you would have realized this and there would have been no escalation

Communication is important in our lives as it enables us to interact with one another, and allows us to form and build upon relationships with other people. However, when communication is not effective or colored by personal biases, it may lead to conflict. In the movie Crash, the characters are faced with a number of social issues, born from their inability to communicate with one another as well as their perceived notions of racial and cultural biases. Through the interactions between the characters this film allows us to understand how interpersonal communication affects individuals be it with strangers, friends, or family.

Lives are slowly being lost due to suicide and not only is it affecting themselves but also the people who are around them. Suicide is defined as taking of one’s own life and it is an issue that should be given all attention to. Teen suicide has been talked about in every source of media and it still continues to have a harmful effect in todays generation. In the United States the eighth leading cause of death is suicide, within developing teens, suicide is the third leading cause of their deaths (NAMI). There are many signs of someone who is contemplating suicide. And there are many reason for someone to be driven to the point of suicide. Those reasons being if the teenager is dealing with depression, bullying, sexual abuse and abuse
Crash is a movie that had several detailed events of sociological concepts. The movie Crash showed that everyone created has good intentions and good hearts but unfortunately they may grow up and learn the prejudices of the world. "Crash" is a movie that brings out racial stereotypes; as the movie is set in Los Angeles, a city with a diverse race of every nationality. The movie starts off with several people being involved in a car accident. We are then taken back to the day before the crash, where we are shown the lives of many of the characters, and the difficulties they may encounter during that day. An LAPD cop is trying to get medical help for his father, but he is having problems with an African American receptionist who won't give
On page 9, the author explains how suicide has become common and brought this realistic issue to an extreme. “Teen suicide was declared a national epidemic-- killing one in three teens-- nearly four years ago. It always existed before that, but seemingly overnight handfuls of my peers were jumping off buildings, slitting their wrists--most without any known reason,” explains Sloane. This is effective because suicide is the second most common cause of death among teens. Depression among teens is also becoming more and more common.
Gender roles. Crash shows how we all can reanalyze the difference between male traits like the ability to make decisions and aggression, and female traits not able making decisions and non-aggression, and the ability of understanding fast. He was to the shop with her daughter Dori. Dori’s understood her dad and she was not happy about it. Since the dad of Dori speaks little English, Dori bought a box that had nothing for the gun. Crash is a film of collisions: vehicles, personalities, attitudes, stereotypes, conventions, and ultimately audience expectations. “We crash into each other, just so we can feel something,” Don Cheadle murmurs contemplatively in a clunky opening-scene thesis statement that nevertheless sums up the film’s approach as well as its premise.
Research shows that more people die from suicide than from car accidents in this day and age (Schworm). Suicide is the act of killing oneself, which is usually caused by some sort of mental illness. In the past few decades the suicide rate in teens has significantly increased causing arguments on how to handle this growing issue. One of the most frequent arguments regarding suicide has been on whether or not teen suicide cases should be made public through media. The media reporting on teen suicides has a positive effect in society because it brings communities together, it prompts teens to receive help, and it shows how families have been affected.
Suicide is going to claim more lives than any of us realize. As the people of America, we have very little knowledge of what suicide is doing. Suicide has turned into a bigger problem than anyone understands by claiming a higher percentage than any other reason for death in the US. It also has claimed an area of the country to host itself and is using the internet to ruin people’s lives.
The characters of the “Crash” interact with each other in different situations, where they reveal diametrically opposite qualities of their character. Reviewing the movie, the critics say: “in “Crash,” no character is too barricaded, too alienated, or too ghettoized” (Bradshaw). Indeed, it seems that there are no positive or negative characters in the movie. Their personal traits change depending on the circumstances; nobility and selflessness are substituted by cruelty and cynicism, and vice versa, integrity, and honesty are killed by fear and resentment. Paul Haggis conveys a significant message empathizing that defects and vices imposed by the life itself and social relations live in every person and lead to conflicts of interests. Society
