I am certain that all have heard of the terms green house gases, fossil fuels, and global warming. Have you ever questioned what will happen if nothing is done about the environmental problems facing the world today? What if I answer you that, we can merely use the power from the sun to power up our entire planet without the use of harmful energy sources, which affect our atmosphere? The power from the sun is what we call solar power. Solar power is the energy that comes from the sun as light and heat energy, and then it is later converted into electrical energy through solar panels (Nelson, 2008). This kind of power is completely free, right? Why should we put a lot of expense on other sources of energy, when there is a complete free …show more content…
If we choose to switch to solar energy in future, it will greatly save our environment because, it does not pollute our air and it is reasonably efficient. It will help reduce global warming, and thus a future green environment with no pollution from fossil fuels, and other conventional sources of energy. To add on that, it will also help in conserving our remaining fossil fuels so that it may not run out in the coming 100-500 years, as it has been predicted. In addition, solar energy operational costs are manageable. It is free from monthly charges compared to conventional sources of energy. Solar energy does not require raw materials such as oil and coal, and once the panels are built, there will be no monthly charges. In addition, the prices of fossil fuels are increasing day by day, and this means conventional energy will be very expensive. Solar energy will remain the most capable world’s future power supply because, it is cost effective once the plants are built, and there will be no transport costs like for conventional energy sources. Therefore, solar energy is cost-effective, and will help in future energy supply, as the maintenance cost is affordable, as long as they are installed properly, and are working efficiently ( Hans, 2012). Furthermore, with the improvement and advancement of technology, it will increase its efficiency, and cost of production thus, making it more cost effective and the world’s best
The Sun’s energy out powers all of the energy sources made on Earth. Even though only a fraction of the Sun’s energy makes it to Earth, it is still ten-thousand more times powerful than the energy sources on Earth. However, we are unable to harness such energy because of the many breaches we have to past through to achieve solar energy. As well, solar energy lacks certain aspects causing fossil fuels to be valued more. Although, by creating engineering advancements to improve the efficiency, expenditure, and availability of solar energy, the problem of solar energy usage will be resolved.
Imagine a world where the power plants are not producing any kind of toxic wastes. A world where cars do not run out of gas. The fuels people use right now are eventually going to run out. However, there is one source that will remain long after current generations of people have left this planet. The sun, if it was not for the sun nothing on this planet would be here. Human, animal, and plant life depend on the Sun for food, light, and warmth. Everything on this planet benefits from this burning ball of gas that planet Earth travels around. Plants, animals, and weather it affects all in one way or another. The sun lights the moon, so even at night it provides Earth with some form of light. Solar Energy is the cleanest form of energy that humans could harness and use to power the modern world, as more solar systems are produced costs would begin to decrease, and the benefit to
* With the effect of carbon tax set to increase the cost of other energy sources, solar power will become a more viable option in the future
In the past hundred years we have been relying on fossil fuel as the major sources of energy, until now people are starting to see what harms fossil fuel does to our environment, and people are staring to see that we are running out of this sources, but likely with the advancement of technology scientist have been able to find something that will replace fossil fuel, and help clean our environment. This replacement are Alternative energy sources. These sources can be described as energy that will be less harmful to the environment as well as humans, cheap, and comes from sources that we won't run out of. One of the most popular source of alternative energy is solar energy. Solar power is the energy
A switch from coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear power plants to solar power plants could supply 69 percent of the United States electricity and 35 percent of its total energy by 2050. Solar plants made 74% of all new U.S. electric capacity installed in 2014, demonstrating the rapidly increasing role that solar is playing in the energy market and its fight against climate change. Solar energy is now generating enough clean, reliable and affordable electricity to effectively power 3 million American homes, while
Previously, we didn’t have to rely to much on energy, however times change causing a large consumption of energy. Solar panels may seem like a good idea due to its constant release of energy. On the contrary, in Source A, Michael Dhar states,” when a photon of sunlight knocks an electron free, the electric field will push that electron out of the silicon junction. A couple of other components of the cell turn these electrons into usable power” showing that at an optimal state, the sun will produce energy. These result often vary due to the amount of inconstant
It is one of the cleanest sources without any emission of harmful gases and is in a great demand today. When these are converted to electricity for commercial as well as residential uses, there are no effects on the environment, no air pollution, noise pollution or any wastes. These can play a very important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by replacing coal-powered energy sources with clean, renewable solar technologies which improve air quality and lessen the harmful impacts that contribute to climate change. Residential solar gives the advantage of energy independence, fuel diversity, improved power reliability, increased price stability and reduced need to build more expensive and polluting electric power generation plants. The benefits of this are energy independence, protection against rising electrical rates, sound financial investment, reduce pollution and dependence on foreign oil. These benefits extend well and eliminate exposure to increasing energy costs and Solar power provides energy security. Photovoltaic (PV) power systems convert sunlight directly into electricity and enables homeowner to generate some or all of their daily electrical energy demand on their own roof, exchanging daytime excess power for future energy needs. It can plan an important role in providing an alternative source of electricity, energy, and back-up power for homes, offices, commercial and industrial buildings. Those who are putting solar on their homes, businesses or other buildings are making a
We all have heard about how one day, we will run out of oil, And you wonder "what are we going to do after we run out? Aren't we screwed?" I'm sure we've also heard, believe it or not, if you will, that oil and fossil fuels cause climate change and that's not a great thing. Well we dont have to worry about running out of oil or climate change by making one decision. We need to switch to renewable energy sources. Renewable energy sources are sources of power that will never run out. A energy source that im going to be discussing today is solar energy. Solar energy has a lot of benefits not only to our society, but to our economy, and to out planets. while S.N. does have many pros, it also has its cons. But of course, I'll be telling you about its many benefits to us first.
The potential of solar power in environmental impacts are land use and habitat loss, water use and
The pros of solar energy is that it’s renewable, it has a lot of potential for the growing market. Solar energy doesn’t cause pollution and it can be contained so we don’t have too, too much. It’s available all over the world too! Even though this pro is more of an upside to people in general is that it’s silent unlike most electric methods. Some cons of this energy is that it can be pricey sometimes, however they are working on it. Another con is that it collects from the sun so it could be a problem when it’s cloudy but it does save so you won’t be powerless. Space is also a concern because typically these large panels take up your roof but what if your roof isn’t applicable it has to be on the ground or elsewhere.
The world is addicted to fossil fuels, but it is quickly using up its resources and destroying the environment. Based on current estimates, oil and natural gas will peak by 2040. In addition, “over the past 50 years, the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history” (MacMillan Para 1). The United States needs to figure out a way to fulfill their massive demand for power while ensuring the safety of the planet. There are many possible ways to attack the problem at hand. The first proposal is to mandate the installment of solar rooftop units throughout the country. Another proposal is to install solar parks throughout the country. A final proposal is to simply incentivize the use and development of solar energy while phasing out fossil fuels. By implementing one of these three proposals, the United States government could help solve a problem that looms over the entire population.
The question is, “why utilize the solar energy for our homes that is given from an existing power source for free?” A simple answer could be because the source of power in the long run is for free. The truth to the statement is nothing is for free because taking advantage of the sun does require some effort, but there certainly isn’t as much effort compared to the energy sources that we use today. More importantly there aren’t any severe consequences left for the environment during the process. The more learning and the more realization of how fast the quality of life is depreciating environmentally conscious citizens look to others observing ignorance for failing to come to the same standards of view. Utilization
An additional common question is about the cost of solar panels. While pricing can be steep, the cost has decreased overtime and will likely continue to do so. According to Sara Matasci – writer for EnergySage – between 2008 and 2017, prices for solar panels dropped 60%. Furthermore, the rate of change is increasing. In other words, prices are falling faster (Matasci). These numbers, when combined with the data for increasing efficiency and guaranteed durability, thoroughly portray the incredible potential solar panels have both for homeowners now and for future consumers.
