In the novel “ The strange case of Dr. jekyll and Mr.hyde,” by the author Robert Louis Stevenson the two main characters Dr.Jekyll and Mr.hyde have many differences and similarities. Dr.Jekyll, the protagonist, is a respected scientists who goes through trials and tribulations with good and evil. Mr.Hyde, the antagonist, and is the corrupt side of Dr. Jekyll. There are certain aspects of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde’s personality that compare and they also contrast in certain situations. The way that they compare and contrast in terms of mentally, physically, and morally. Dr.Jekyll had more of a classy, clean house while Mr. Hyde a house that was more filthy, squalid house. The difference between the two houses shows the vast personalities that they both hold as individuals. That Dr.jekyll has tip-top and sanitary personality, but Mr. Hyde has a negligent and unclean personality. Morally, Dr.Jekyll is more formal than Mr.Hyde. Physically, Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde were total opposites when it came to stature. Dr.Jekyll was a very fragile man. He was not looked upon as an imposing force. In the story the author Stevenson mentioned, “he had borne himself to the lawyer with a sort of murderous mixture of timidity and boldness, and he spoke with a husky, whispering and somewhat broken voice.” This exhibits that Mr.Hyde on the other hand is very striking. He is a short, sturdy, and wide man. Dr.Jekyll did not compare to Mr.Hyde in build. Mentally, the two main characters Dr.jekyll and Mr.Hyde were also extensively different. since Dr.Jekyll was a scientist he thought more with reasoning and rationality and acted with caution. In the novel, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the two main characters could not be any different. Dr. Henry Jekyll is a well respected doctor, and is well established in the community. He lives in a beautiful mansion, is nicely dressed. He is known for his decency and charitable works. Jekyll did admit to having a dark side, which he was not proud of. He began to experiment with ways to release his dark side from himself. This experimentation would eventually lead to his friends and colleagues disassociating themselves from him. When a longtime friend and medical colleague, Dr. Lanyon was asked about his current relationship with Dr. Jekyll, he stated, "But it is more than ten years since Henry Jekyll became too fanciful for me. He began to go wrong, wrong in mind; and though of course I continue to take an interest in him for old sake's sake, as they say, I see and I have seen devilish little of the man. Such unscientific balderdash," added the doctor, flushing suddenly
After I got done reading the book "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" the two people seem nothing alike. dr. Jekyll was respected and well liked other than me. Hyde being hideous and didn't care about his appearance. but I do think they are mentally the same because they somewhat in a way have the same personality but at the same time they don't. for instance dr.jeklly probably had evil inside him but he didn't want people to dislike him so he became this new person named "Mr. Hyde" so people would think its a completely different
Robert Louis Stevenson made one great story. A story that gives us a perspective of the societies normal good and bad person. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are total opposites although in some ways are alike. To find the qualities that are the same you have to really dig into this story and get into it. In the whole story it describes the differences between them both, rich and poor, ugly and handsome, and one has meaning and the other does not.
In the beginning u could be live that these two are two different people with two different personalities. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are very different but there is one thing that makes them alike in a way. Mr. Hyde is just always a jerk all the time, but Dr. Jekyll has a dark side to him it its very had to get to but it will come out if he pushed to his limits.

In the opening chapters of the novella, Mr. Hyde is portrayed as the epitome of evil, while Henry Jekyll is seen to be genial and kind. Throughout the novella, each character develops and changes; Hyde is perceived to become more evil, while Jekyll to become weaker, distancing himself from his once close friends. In the final chapter of the novella, Jekyll’s personal testimony, when Dr. Jekyll is on his deathbed, he reveals his connection to Mr. Hyde. As the characters change throughout the novella, Stevenson slowly reveals their personalities to the unsuspecting Victorian reader.
Mentally they're both messed up. But, Dr.Jekyll was just a bit more mature than Hyde. In the story is states “ Jekyll had more of a father’s interest and Hyde had more than a son’s indifference” This quote is basically saying that mentally Dr.Jekyll was more of a father figure and Hyde was like a teenage son who broke all the rules.
Physically they both are very different. Dr. Jekyll is about fifty years old, he is large, tall, and has no facial hair ("smooth-faced"). Mr. Hyde has gnarled hands and is very short. He acts very vigorously. Even his face looks completely different from Dr. Jekyll.
Dr. Jekyll is a honorable man that knows how to act in public and is well mannered. He is a doctor and a good person to be friends with and his personal beliefs are for more liberation and freedom who longs for peace and for more control so to speak. On the other hand Mr. Hyde is a self centered person and can sometimes be damaging to things around him because of his aggressive and violent nature nature. Though they both seem like two completely different people miraculously they are the same person
One thing that can be widely agreed on is that variety exists between people of the human species. Some people look physically different whether it’s through their hair texture, height, or even skin tone. Personality, however, is what truly makes up a person. That is a fact that is exemplified in everyday activities. Oftentimes, even the most attractive person can be seen as ugly upon getting to know them due to a conflict in personality.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are two different flowers from two very different gardens. They grew up in very different lifestyles and think about very different thoughts. Other people see them as very different individuals as well. One would think of Dr. Jekyll as the average human living an average life. Later in the story, that perspective changes. On the other hand, Mr. Edward Hyde is a little stranger than the others.
The two personalities, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are different and common. They are different physically and mentally. Dr. Jekyll is a polite person that supports the public. Mr. Hyde is an impolite person that does unacceptable actions. There are two sides of their personalities, an evil side and a good side. Mr. Hyde being the evil side does unacceptable actions that brings danger. He sees no consequences of what he does.
There are more differences than similarities of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The mental state of Dr. Jekyll is that he is more focused on his career as a doctor. The mental state of Mr. Hyde is that he is displeasing. Not only were there differences and the mentality of both Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but also there physical capabilities.
Dr.Jekyll is moral. He represents the idea of good while Mr. Hyde is more of the idea of evil. They were not two different people it was more like the good and bad side of one person. Dr. Jekyll was seen as a well respected doctor and Mr. Hyde did things that were thought of as despicable. There was a noticeable difference in morality between the two personalities.
