My strengths as a reader are the ways how I read the book. As I read through a book, I try to understand the meaning of each line, and search for the words that I do not know; additionally, I try to read and get information about the book from multiple different sources, so I could have a better understanding of the theme of the book.
My areas for improvement as a reader are speed and analyzing a content. It takes me a great amount of time to finish a book, since I tend to stop and reread the lines if I do not understand what it means. Also, I can not analyze a literature very well or notice the message that author implied in the story. Because I do not have as much experience as other people in analyzing contexts in classical literature, it takes more time for me to fully understand how each character is feeling or thinking.

I was able to learn some rules of punctuations from English 1 last year, and I practiced and read more about punctuations from various websites. Although most people are able to fix their punctuations properly, I feel good about the fact that I can do the exact same thing that other people can do.
My areas for improvement as a writer are grammar and wording. Since English is not my primary language, I have many flaws on my writing techniques. Sometimes, my sentence becomes wordy or awkward if I could not explain something what I thought. Also, I have a hard time distinguishing what or when to use proper articles in front of the noun, or what preposition should be used in front of particular phrases or verbs.
My strength as a speaker is that I mostly do not get nervous when I stand in front of people. I am not usually confident of myself before I stand up and speak; however, I usually find myself fairly calm when I stand in front of the
I have some strengths and weaknesses as a writer that I am aware of, but honestly it is not an easy task for me. My only strength in writing is my thought process, not the actual writing itself. I have never considered myself to be good in the subject of writing, but I always try my best.
I thoroughly enjoy writing so I feel confident in my writing ability. One of my high school teachers had told me that I am a gifted writer and my writing has a lot of voice in it. The only things I have found that I struggle with when it comes to writing is grammar and transitions between paragraphs. My reading ability is just as strong as my writing ability, although I do not enjoy reading nearly as much as I enjoy writing.
I have many weaknesses when it comes to reading. One of my weaknesses is I am a slow reader. One more weakness I have is it is hard for me to find books I am interested in. It is also hard for me to pay attention to a book because I can’t usually find one I like. I have some strengths when it comes to reading to one is it doesn’t bother me to read in front of people.
The ACT was one of the many steps I have had to take in preparing myself for college. In October I will be taking the test again and I desire to receive a score of 29 or higher. My scores were as follows: English 28, Mathematics 24, Reading 27 and Science 24. I strongly believe my reasoning for receiving such low scores was due to my lack of studying. I did not properly prepare myself for such an important test. There are multiple resources I could have used yet I wasted my time and did not take it seriously. Before retaking the test I aspire to grow in my writing by building up my strengths and knocking down my weaknesses.
Most of the time when someone is told to write a paper, they read the directions and follow the prompt. But when told to think about strengths and weaknesses of how they actually write those papers, it is a good eye opener to realize what needs to be improved and what is already superior quality. For my writing, being a perfectionist is in many ways a strength, but it can also be a weakness. My perfectionism affects all of my other strengths and weaknesses in my writing.
My writing strengths include grammar and mechanics and thought out introductions. In my writings, I proofread and edit and revise without fail before turning in an essay. Doing this results in the fixing of grammatical and mechanical errors.
I would have to say writing and public speaking are two of my least favorite things. When I say public speaking, I mean more than myself in the room. If I am writing, I at least have time to revise my statements if I come off too harsh. My greatest strengths in writing would be that I have a very diverse background of life experience to draw from. While I really dislike writing, if I find something I am very passionate about I may make a comment on a blog or put my “two cents” in while watching a chat room. However, It would be uncommon for me to do either of those things frequently. If I had to choose a job in the writing field. I would write technical manuals or help me guides. I think technical writing is my greatest writing strength. There
When I was in high school, I really didn’t know the aspects of writing an essay even though I passed the writing portion of the OGT test. Writing has always been a strength of mine because I have really good handwriting and I’m willing to improve it any way possible. I never knew about citations, in text citations, and not using first person. In high school, students usually can turn in anything they have and literally pass a paper every single time. Writing is a very important skill to have because it improves communication skills, creative thinking, and how to express ideas.
Personally, I believe that my overall ability as a writer is good because I love to draw out diagrams, supporting details, and my ability to relate to the reader is some of my assets, although, some of my liabilities include; coming up with a thesis statement, edit/revising my papers, and word choice/vocabulary. As a student, it is hard to come up with and think about your assets and liabilities or what a good writer is and what a bad writer is, or maybe we all just think we are bad writers because we are so good at criticizing ourselves and not getting other opinions on how we are as a writer. Thinking of my assets was one of the hardest things I have had to do when it comes to writing because I have never had to think about what helps make
I don't like to read because you just sit there and I like to move around or fidget. When I do read I like to read graphic novels like mangas, but the only reason why I read is because I have language class yeah I know boring right. I don’t like reading mostly because I'm a slow reader and this one time I only got about five pages read and my teacher thought I wasn't paying attention so I got in trouble. My weakness as a reader would be my fluency like I said before my fluency sucks! My strength in reading would be my comprehension that is what got me to a z level. My goal has a reader is to only read the amount of books that I need to and yes that is my goal. My goal has a reader in my life is to be able to comprehend to my highest potential
In this class, I have really realized my strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills. Before this class, whenever I had a paper to write usually I would wait to the last minute and wing it. However, in this class I could not simply do that. So much research had to be done in order to compose these papers that it was a bit overwhelming. Learning to narrow my focus was key not only to surviving this class but to composing a well-organized paper without rambling as well. I learned that I’m a bit ambitious whenever I feel passionate about a subject, which can make writing the paper easy, however it makes it hard to feel like the paper is ever perfect. On the bright side this often leads me to put a lot of hours into a paper in hopes that it will
There are many ways to write a story, but only one way for each individual. Ever since I started school, English was my hardest subject. Math, art, and language class came easy to me, while I struggled in English. I have many weaknesses as a writer and not many strengths. However, the way I approach the writing task may have something to do with the fact that writing is not one of my strongest points.
I Am a Writer I don’t play sports To get out all my anger. I don’t dance To feel grateful or pretty.
Have you ever cleaned out your closet and found many items you never knew you owned? That is the way English 101 felt to me. I learned important skills and techniques that I will maintain even though the course is over. I will be constantly improving what I have learned—meaning I will work to carry about my strengths and eliminate my remaining weaknesses. English 101 has helped me grow as a reader, a writer, and most importantly a person.
I have learned much about myself as a reader and a writer. When I first came to ENF, I had a difficult time reading and writing. My strengths in reading are picking up meanings of certain words, developing vocabulary, and finding main ideas and details in a passage. My weaknesses as a reader are picking up contexts clues that can help figure out words I do not know in an essay and not being familiar with word parts. My reading skills improved by learning to understand context clues and word parts. The activities that have helped improve my reading skills are making study cards, taking notes, developing new vocabulary, using different websites to practice, and the app Elevate. My strengths in writing are, to know what my topic will be, the main idea, and the thesis statement. My weaknesses in writing are coming up with details and examples, developing ideas, writing introductions, and revising ideas. As a writer, I have learned to stay on topic, understand what I need to write about, to capitalize the first letter of nouns that are a place, and not to abbreviate words in an essay. The activities that helped improve my writing are the app Elevate, Connect, and the readings in the ENF book.
