You decided take a hike through the woods you know the area so you not going to get to lost. You head out the door and head for the woods you find a hike trail and follow it. You hear the crunching of leaves under your feet sounds of nature all around you as you continue to go along the trail. You find a trail going up and up as you go up it finally comes to an abrupt end there's a bench you sit on it and look out and see a huge forest. A lush green forest sprawled out in front of you the sun's rays illuminating certain parts of the forest you see trees swaying back and forth from the breeze. It's quite beautiful you stay there until the sun start setting and you realize you have to head back nothing else you can do so you had back. You see
I was a passenger in the backseat of our family vehicle. The small bumps in the pavement lulled me to a place of perfect repose. As we looked outside our windows we could see the sky painting a magnificent show for us. The sun was going down, but the heavens were brighter and more astounding than I had ever seen them before. It was as if someone had set the clouds alight with raging wildfires and splashes of pink and purple scattered about. I never wanted it to end, but the sky had other plans. The masterpiece before us began to recede into darkness as the nighttime engulfed the sun and put daytime to
My eyes peeled open slowly and the bright sunlight flooded into my eyes, blinding me. I heard the sound of running water and felt the cold breeze flow over my body. I looked out of my hammock and in front of me was a beautiful waterfall and several towering, bright green trees. My friends whom were with me shortly awoke and we packed our things and set off on our first true day of hiking in the Appalachian mountains.
When i eventually open my eyes i can finally see my surroundings and the first thing i notice is the clear blue water crashing with the golden beach , the clean sky and the smell of fresh air . Scanning the area around me , i realise that Alice and i aren't the only survivors , there's : Arthur , Damien and Claudet . There all unconscious so Alice makes it her duty to try and wake them . During these few minutes i decide to process our situation , where we are , what the hell happened and what we're going to do now . Looking behind me i’m hit with a rich , lush forest looking to be full of life and heaven like . Peacefully glaring at the woodland i feel like my problems float away and that i'm as free as a feather able to float into the clouds and never return, leaving behind the inferno of a past that i have and creating a new life for myself .
When I got to Sawmill Canyon the first thing I notice every time I go is the smell, the smell of silver leaf oaks and befell grass. So I strapped on my bag and got to walking. The trail has a strip of grass about knee height beaming down the center almost as if it would never end. As I walked I got lost in thought but the time wasn't going slow nor fast but somewhere lost in-between. Time moves differently when you are around so many things and so many people in town, when its slow it's like molasses and when its fast your at
The blinding light coming from the outside poured into me. I grabbed the air reaching for water just like looking for an oasis in a desert. My eyes, yawned by the sun poking into my eyes and I realized that I was back in my house; my old jacketed
It was day two on the Appalachian Trail. The rich robust smell of pine permeated the air. The Sparrows caroled, and the soothing warm glow of the sun, warmed my body as the elevation increased. I was completely engulfed in nature. As the trail progressed, a couple friends and I reached the first cairn. We were 500 feet from the summit of Mt. Avery. We soon took our last steps, lowered our bags, and shared smiles. Immediately we were taken hold of by the ear ringing silence. Not a gust of wind, nor a chirp from a bird, it was complete serenity. As we took in the view I realized something that changed me completely. I was
Throughout the years, my family and I all wake up just as the sun rises like baby birds seeing light for the first time as they climb out of there cracked shells. My father pulls my two sleepy siblings out from the comfort of their beds and they stumble out to the kitchen still in pajamas led by the sents of sizzling bacon and warm butter filled toast. After breakfast, we all help pack all our belongings in the back of our blue SUV and all jump in. We set off on our adventure to beautiful Carroll County during this cold and crazy November morning. Once we reach close to our destination you look out of the car window at all the beautiful sights just as it was mistaken as a mirage in the hot desert sun. As you drive through the small town of Westminster in the hill tops of northern Maryland you will see acres of autumn leaves on trees as you would in a famous painting. It is a breathtaking view. Classic rustic red barns flood each side of the long stretch of roads and horses run free in the fields like wind blowing briskly off the ocean shore. The location is very different from the beach town where I live. You can smell the fresh air from the change in elevation instead of salty beach air I am so used to. Feeling of almost being on a rollarcoaster-like ride, when you are really just going down a small hill a short distance away from my
Then we saw Bison running in front of use from the bobcats to but they got away but one of the animals died because we got to the end of the ranch and we saw a dead elk and there was guts everywhere and we told the park people and they said they would clean it up. On the last day we went to the long X-trail and when we got there we had to walk the trail and we where walking and we saw a bald eagle and he was right in a tree above me and then we saw a Cardinal and it flies fast we saw it for a minute and the next minute it was gone and we were amazed. When we got to the top of the trail we could see for miles and we could see a lot of houses and cars when we went back down we went on one of those Gondola and it was fun but I was afraid of heights and we got to the bottom and are car was there somehow and we got in it and we said it was amazing.we thought it was amazing seeing all of the animals and all the nice sites we
On a cold summer night the sun was shining brightly in the sky. The sounds of bears were given to my ears in the breeze as it came through the forest trees. Wolfs could be seen in the tree line hunting their pray. Feeling the rugged rocks that you tread on. Fresh air smells like pine scents with a glowing spray of a river. There was a spiritual being present that made my heart quicken and my body became still. HE came to show the way for HE is the truth, the way, and the life for through HIM we well shall see the face of GOD. This started my first step into what is a fantastic journey is exciting yet wondering what is gone to happen. Each step brings peace no matter what the challenge is because HE leads me. Some search to find a round their
The sound of the chirping birds awoke me. The smell of the grassy-smelling rain tickled my nose as I pried my heavy eyes open, tired from yesterday’s long day of adventuring. I squirmed out of my cozy sleeping bag, being gentle on my sore back after sleeping on the diamond-hard rock last night. I crawled out of my little compact tent as my stomach growled of hunger. I looked out to the foggy distance where the egg yolk-like sun was rising from behind the bumpy, tree-filled mountains. I gathered my hiking essentials and munched on a protein bar as I started exploring on the wet, slippery trail. Suddenly, I heard a footstep behind me. I turned around, but nothing in particular was there. I kept strolling along, observing the many species wandering
My mom and I went to Indian Hill to take a hike. I put on my sweatshirt, my pants, boots and then put on my camel backpack. We looked at the map, picked the yellow trail, then walked up the stairs and started hiking. I looked down to check my phone to see how much battery I had. I wanted to make sure I could listen to music. It was at 87% charge so I started playing music from Pandora. I put it on today’s pop and hip hop. All I could see were lots and lots of trees . The park was filled with the noise of cars driving in the background.
As the sun rose over the horizon it awoke the jungle slowly and efficiently. Soon I could hear the morning birds chirp with all their heart and that triggered joy and excitement in my soul. A morning breeze toured the jungle making the flowers and leaves tango with rhythm and finesse as though they were experts. The lush evergreen trees stood so firm as if the roots were clinging for their very life, in the distance there was a Crystal River and a waterfall as its source. I could hear the rampaging rapids after the dip of the waterfall which slowly converted into a swift river forcefully turning at every bank.
I wake up as the sun starts to peek through the windows of my rented house and I quickly go outside. As I open my door I stop, frozen, unable to take it all in at once. This is not anything like I have seen in Texas, it is a different type of beauty. After fifteen minutes of admiration, I go inside and rush to put a back pack together, so that I can be on my way to go hiking. As this is my only day to look around the park without my research team , I am ready to make the most of it. Within minutes I have made it to the start of the trail, as far as my eyes can see, I see green trees with
I tied my boat off and started to climb the steep cliffs. I knew that no one had lived to tell what was beyond the clouds, but I still climbed. My body grew weak and doubt started to fill my head. I continued to climb until I reached the top. Finally I grabbed the last rock and felt the flat land under my hand. My heart dropped and I couldn't believe I made it to the top. I was confused because I saw nothing but blue sky and dirt. I walked down the trail and came upon an old rusted metal sign in the middle of the dirt trail. It said "Enter at your own risk." Fear came over me as thoughts of my brother who never returned from his quest to find what was on top of the cliff. I had to make a decision. Each pathway had an old weathered door and
After racing down the mountain for a couple of hours I stayed to see the sunset. What I had missed all these years. The sunset to me was like paradise. As if I had jumped a portal and landed on the other side of the world. A place that I belonged. After years of isolation, of feeling without anything to do, with my life like a void, not having anything, I finally felt everything. I could feel the emotion in that place. All the memories, all the things I did. Those were good times, and I will never forget them, but then I came back to reality, and it 's that they will never come back. However I was there for a reason, I needed to complete my mission and my promise. Then, off into the distance, I saw two people. From the top of my lungs I shouted.
