“Farm Near Duivendrecht, in the Evening” –Analysis… Different people think, live, view, and judge in distinct ways. That’s what makes life so interesting. The great diversity of the world sometimes has an effect on certain people. Humanity itself has ways of expressing its differences, for example there’s; art, music, fashion, and hobbies, etc. All these are factors that can help identify ones personality, lifestyle, and views on certain topics, etc. This helps define us in a way, it’s a form of expression, whether personal or not. “Farm Near Duivendrecht, in the Evening” is a very personally inspirational work of art by: Piet Mondrian. It can be viewed in many different ways, but it is certainly a generally calm, and in a way …show more content…
Depending on how you decide to think about it; it could very well have a suspenseful, and possibly horrific aspect to it. Made possible by the depiction of the location, its surroundings, colors, texture, brightness, and shading of the farmhouse in the painting, etc. With that being said; one should have a pretty good idea on what this farmhouse, and its surroundings look like by now. The next question we usually ask ourselves is “why?” why the color, why the worn out look of the farmhouse, why the surroundings, in general why is the painting depicted like this? That brings up the need to analyze the work of art at hand. When focusing on this painting, you can see a few birds soaring over the farmhouse. They’re quite small so there’s some difficulty telling if they’re flying towards or away from the farmhouse. It is still very probable that they flew over it at some point in time though. The lines in the painting are mostly depicted in the trees, and outer walls of the farmhouse. Standing firm the trees look, and or represent strength and dominance. It makes you wonder if there’s still hope for the dead looking environment surrounding the farmhouse. When first observing this painting; the thoughts were generally negative such as; sad, abandoned, lonely, and depressing, etc. The painting is indeed centered, and the focal point is obviously the farmhouse.
In this world we live in, people are easily influenced by others. What or whoever influences you, that becomes a part of your identity. Having an identity is what makes you who you are. A person’s choice in music, clothes, cars, their environment, social life all influence your personality.
It is almost a reflection of the man’s trident. That same pitchfork shape also appears in the window of the house that sits in between both figure’s heads. Repetition can also be seen in the dotted pattern of the woman’s outfit, which also appears in the material of the curtain that hangs in the house’s window. The echo of verticals in this painting is also strong. The faces and bodies of the figures seem to be stretched, and narrowed. The pitchfork’s slender prongs and the green stripes on the man’s shirt also add to the elongation of their frame. The copious amounts of vertical wood boards that make up the house and the barn, keep the viewer’s eye moving up and down the picture plane. Wood’s use of verticality in this painting is overwhelming.
It represented a couple of farmers in front of their house built in the "gothic carpenter" style. Such painting revealed the influence of German and Dutch primitive painters regarding the minute treatment of details, notably in the architecture of the farm. It symbolised the life of pioneers.
The focal point of this painting is the tree that lies central on the canvas. It is also the foremost feature in the picture with the town, sea, and intense foliage falling far behind
But Everyone is unique... Everyone has his own identity and personality! We should not judge anyone! Nobody on earth has the right to judge a person for who he was born to be! We are all flowers in the garden of God! And everyone has his own color and his unique scent” which theoretically proves that god has something to do with our uniqueness and why we’re odd. Since we’re unique, we need to be ourselves and not worry what everyone thinks.
When I look out into the world it does not take long for me to realize that we are all different in a plethora of different ways. We all grow up in many different societies and
In the Painting Home on The Range painted in 2008 by Evri Kwong the image is done in a very interesting way. The first thing that you will notice is the framing of the image. You can tell right away that the painting is telling two stories at once due to the fact that the painting is split into two completely different sections. The effect that this has on my eyes is the painting becomes a book in a way. You first take a look at the story being told in the image to the left. Then after that the cut in the painting continues to push your eyes to the right where the story is ended. Furthermore in the right half of the image you can see that the huts depicted are not complete and
This painting appears to take place either at either dusk or dawn, when the sun is at the horizon. Likely it is dusk, as the setting appears to be in the Northern Hemisphere and the snow in the picture residing on the left hand side of fence would suggest it has yet to melt, so the sun would be setting in the west, or on the right. So the viewer, as well as the subject, is facing south. This affects the painting in several ways. The lighting is very dramatic, the middle ground being very much more lighted than the foreground and background, therefore the colors are more saturated than the foreground and background. Greens, browns and greys are used a lot in this piece and makes it very muddy. The house really does stand out against the painting because of the contrast of lighting.
Another main focal point in this canvas was subject matter. This is where the objects or events are described. The artist gives us different objects such as the old couple seems displayed as depressing. Or you can observe it as normal couple, walking across the river, enjoying the night. He also gives us a boat which could possibly be giving us a correlation because the boat looks like it’s broken or about to sink. There is also another interpretation with the object that Van Gogh displays which is, the stars. Depending upon which way you want to take it, they look like flowers or fireworks. Also, there is a sense of false appearance with the houses. If you stare at just the bank you will notice that it is just a bunch of bright lights but if you pay attention to the water close to the bank, you will acknowledge the darkness or shadow of the houses.
• The focal point of the painting is the sun-drenched valley and river. The emphasis comes from the diagonal of the tree to the left that directs the view of the scene down the valley toward the farmland.
Pieter Brueghel was a Netherland painter whose paintings focused on humans and nature. Many of his paintings were scenes of humans, generally peasants, living life, with back dropped by beautifully detailed landscapes. Pieter was not just an extremely talented artist; his perception of humans and their environment was an amazing contribution to all art, but especially landscape painting. His painting The Harvesters is an example of his supreme skill, and shows how much his work impacted landscapes. Four contributions that can be seen in this painting are:
In addition, they too have been growing and learning in their own environment with different family members’ influences. Each of our own influences, in turn, influences others. From there, we again take in and learn what we can so we can make our own decisions on how to define our “selves”. Later, society influences our thoughts on who we are as people and our relation to the world as a whole. There is a constant norm that people try to assimilate to or diverge from. Society presents its own ideas of who we should be as people, and it is then our own job to take that information and do what we will with it to make our own definition for ourselves of who we are.
“Under”). One could mistake that the focal point is the little figure under the birch tree who is a priest. However, the main point in this landscape is all about the birches. The reason why one could say so is because of all the visual elements such as: the birches are in the middle of the painting; they are also the most lighted objects in the painting (light is shining in the form of an oval) (National Gallery). Due to the levels of lightning one can see that the picture is divided into three horizontal parts: the top (dark, but not as dark as the bottom of the painting); the middle is the lightest; and the bottom is the darkest. This means that he used what he learned about the Dutch style and mixed it with his personal style thus we have a whole new way of seeing his point of view.
Grant Woods purpose for this piece was to create the type of people that would own this house. I feel as if he achieved his purpose because the characters look like they would own the property. The pitchfork in the gentleman's hands correlates with the barn in the
While all people conform to society to some degree we all develop aspects of individuality from our different experiences. Individuality is what makes the human race as successful as it is. It adds creativity and change in an otherwise idle society. Without it there would be no change.
