The regulations also cover training that is to do with work.
• Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006- This says it is unlawful for an employer or potential employer to discriminate against you at work because of your age. The Residential Care and Nursing Homes Regulations 2002. This protects the rights of people living in care homes.
• Health and Social Care Act 2008.- This Act established the Care Quality Commission (CQC), whose remit is to protect and promote the right of people using health and social care services in England to quality care and to regulate its provision.
In October 2010 a new legislation began that was the Equality act 2010 this involves most of the above legislation and brings them all together into one act. This means that within my workplace each member of staff has to adhere to this legislation and ensure that everyone that comes into our building is treated with dignity and respect, they are not discriminated against in any way and everyone receives the correct level of treatment as and when needed.
The most common forms of discrimination are racial remarks, slurs, being called insulting names and being the butt of hurtful jokes. Studies have found that discrimination, racism and harassment may have significant mental and physical health consequences such as frustration, stress, anxiety, depression, possible nervous breakdown, or high blood pressure that can cause heart attacks. Equality Act 2010 is the law that bands unfair treatment and helps achieve equal opportunities in the work place and wider society.
Equality- being equal, especially in rights, status or opportunities. All individuals should be treated equally and there are laws in place to ensure that this happens. In accordance with the law, organisations have quality policies to ensure that everyone is treated equally.
Equality means having equal access to the too services a person needs. The centre promoted equality when Patrick Green was tested positive for HIV. Although Patrick was concerned about no longer being accepted as a member he was reassured that he will retain all access to all facilitates and wold be treated with the same courtesy. This is showing equality as Patrick will have equal access to the facilities just like everyone else who goes to the centre, and just like he would even if he didn’t test positive for HIV.

Diversity means people of different sexes, ages that all have their own different experiences, attitudes, beliefs and preferences. Equality means treating everyone fairly and making equal opportunities available. Inclusion involves making the individual the centre of their life, involving them in everything that is about them so that they are actively involved in all aspects of their life, care and support.
As a Health care worker I work in accordance with the Care Standard Act 2000, Codes of Practice and conduct, with the Legal and Organisational requirements, and procedures.

The Care Quality Commission makes sure that hospitals, care homes, dental and GP surgeries, and all other care services in England provide people with safe, effective, compassionate and high quality care, and they encourage these services to make improvements.

1.3 The legislation relating to equality, diversity and inclusion, stems both from UK government and European union. It offers protection from discrimination on grounds of age, disability, gender, race and ethnic origin, religious faith or belief and sexual orientation. The legislation has implications on all workplaces, in terms of employment practice and in terms of the services provided. Compliance with the legislation must be embedded in your Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policies.
This law protects many people from discrimination and it means that people should not be at a disadvantage or mistreated at work or in society just because of their age, sex, sexuality, religion or belief, race, disability or any other things which can also be known as ‘protected characteristics’.

Equality and diversity is mandatory for my team. This provides them with information on how to respect Clients race, gender, age, sex, intelligence or disability. These values are very important to care work. My organizational values are communicated to our Clients through Reablement Factsheets and person centered care plans.
