During the first semester of English 1301, I have learned so much that before I hadn’t comprehended. This class has teached me to write what is my passion and explain my thoughts thoroughly. The classes I took before were mostly teaching the arts of writing essays in which the not much was learned. This class made an exception for me to challenge myself and try to succeed in becoming a better writer. I feel as I have learned more in these 16 weeks than have in the last two years of highschool english. Furthermore to expand on the classes I had taken before I had never learned how to write without just actually doing work and feeling enthusiastic about it. Most of the time we would learn about something or topic would be given. There would be …show more content…
For example in college how all-nighters will take place, and become sort of a routine. This course also taught me that if you procrastinate, then it will get you nowhere. So in my mind i have set a new type of rule against the procrastination since i have done it so many times. Obviously when we had started learning the first day i had wished that this class would be actually better than the ones before. Because before the classes as i have stated we would not learn a lot,and our grades would be affected by this situation. Also not to mention my favorite class for a long time was english until last year when we were not taught as well. That is why when I had taken this course, I was praying that I would actually finally learn something for a chance. Finally when we had started the class i was thankful that finally I had gotten in a class that would be fun and challenging. It might seem to many in our class that this class is hard. Obviously the class is going to be hard, but i feel as if you put your mind to anything you can get it done. So that is why when I took this class ,i knew there would be time where i would be tired and not want to do anything. But for when everything was written and stated to us in class. I was sure that we will have the will power and the proper instructions on how to write our papers and the stuff we have to do in the
Before starting English 1102 I was so excited because I knew who class I wanted to take; but, his class was full. I was a very sad cookie. Then my friend Josh told me her knew a professor that was better than the one I wanted and that I would love her class. I’m glad I trusted Josh and took this class. In my English 1102 class I evolved as a writer, experienced a lot of new things, made a few mistakes, and learned from them.
My overall experience in English 1301 has definitely changed the manner in which I think, write, and read. I have learned a great deal in this class, mainly on how to write an extended definition essay and also how to effectively include commentary in an essay. These new things as well as many others that I have learned in this class will help me succeed in other classes. I believe these skills will help me succeed because I can apply it to other essays I write and also discussions. I think something that I did not know very well when I came into this class was grammar. After I took the first grammar quiz, I felt a little lost. This changed once the answer key was released and I really tried to understand the concept. I can now correct grammar
This English class was the best English class I have ever had. There were no tests, vocabulary quizzes, or in class essays, which made the class less stressful. Before this English class, I was afraid that I would not enjoy writing many essays or writing so many words in one paper. Afterwards, essays have become something that is not so much my favorite task in the world, but it has become more enjoyable to an extent. Professor Sullivan’s class has taught me to formally write a research paper, to analyze a book through responding to different quotes from the story or novel, to understand magical realism, and to understand my own passion for school and how much effort I will be willing to put out in years to come.
With the anxiety flowing throughout my body, I knew the time was near of facing my English 1301 class. Being told that I needed to improve my writing during my grade school days, I knew that I didn’t feel at ease going into a college level English class. But, with this in mind I had to pull myself together to encounter the challenges that I will face. However, having the privilege of having an amazing professor I believe my writing skills improved, also I was able to find my confidence.
A successful English 1301 student is not just one who has passing grades, but one who does all their task wisely. When i first started English comp 1301 i thought i was going to breeze through it without a problem, but i was wrong. The class proved to be a challenge that required a great deal from me. It required time-management, determination, flexibility, focus, priorities, communication and engagement. Although I did great at demonstrating some of the traits, there were some that i did not excel at, and for that I paid the price.
I learned many lessons in my English 1301 class, but there are three specific ones I liked the most, writing a research paper, using transition words in an essay, and to attend to class. Most of these lessons are a daily basis and I used them or do them in different subjects without noticing it. The daily work in this class helped me improve these three lessons. It also helped me overtake some of the works I had in other subjects.
In English 1102 students will learn many different techniques throughout the course to understand and compose an analysis on an array of topics. After the course is over it is up to the students to apply what they have learned to everyday life. Many students throughout this course have questioned why they have to learn this material and that it will not even help them in the real world, but they are wrong. Each and everyday people should look at the deeper meaning and analyze situations very carefully or else one may find themselves being deceived. Being able to analyze is a very important skill no matter what career choice you choose. In this course the material assigned also had many life lessons in them. A great example of a reading assignment
English classes are very important if you want to pursuit your academic goal, and there are a lot of things that I learned about academic writing in this semester. At first, I thought that it was going to be easy as long as I kept doing my brief assignments on time and showing up in classes. However, I was wrong, English is hard, especially if you are an international student because the methods of writing an essay are different. Though, I decided to take English 1301 because I wanted to be able to write something that would make it easier for a reader to understand, and of course to make me get good grades in other classes assignments. Also, because I didn’t know the difference between writing a rhetorical analysis essay and writing a normal
As a student of the English class 1301, I feel like I’ve made improvements on my writing skills. In my opinion, English 1301 is a tough class. Because I thought some of the topic was difficult to write. However, practice makes perfect is the case here. Writing as much as you can is the only way to make an improvement.
While taking taking English 1302 with prof. Innis, i learned so much stuff that was useful to me in college. Every student should be able to say a few things they have learned from a class after they finished with it, and that's what I am here to do today. During this class period i learned how to manage time, stop procrastinating a lot, and finally i learned to become a better writer. All of these improvement made me a better student, and I am grateful for it.
Throughout this semester, I have learned multiple issues concerning my English 1301 online class. I have learned various writing techniques and peculiarities of MLA, APA formatting, citation norms, and an accurate use of sources. After taking this class, I am pleased to say that now I can not only differentiate MLA and APA formats, but also write papers using them.
English 111 has been a great course so far. I have been learning new material that will help me to improve my comprehensive English skills, such as speaking, reading and writing. In this course, we have covered many topics that usually are not presented or introduced to students in younger agers. Sexual harassment is one of the sensitive topics that we have discussed in details. I personally did not fully know what is the true definition of sexual harassment and what form of actions or phrases that we could say that would considered to be forms of sexual harassments or harassments in general. During lectures, we have looked cases of sexual harassments and how we can educate ourselves and be aware of this issue that our communities facing. Student were assigned to draw their thoughts and what they have
In the beginning, I felt as this English course was just another typical course with the purpose of allowing students to write more essays without the use of creativity and acuity. However, as I ventured deep into the course, I found my original opinion to be biased. Throughout my spiritual journey in ENGL 1304, I not only learned many concepts and new ideas along the way, but I was also able to connect with all my readings. From researching my online sources to constructing a coherent argument, I grasp the process of communicating my voice for each assignment through careful observation and visualization. As a result, I was able to write my essays in a more personal manner. It also led me to stray away from the concept of “just writing anything
This was not the first time I took English 1301. The first time I took this class, I had to withdraw from it. I was missing too many days, because I would wake up late. I was not doing my homework. I had problems with the teacher. At the midpoint of the semester I knew there were no changes to pass the class. I had to withdraw and take the W. This semester things are different. I decided to take evening classes. I was lucky to choose a wonderful teacher. The most important thing was that I did my work. My success was due to the fact that I changed my bad habits.
This semester in English 1302 my perspective on writing has immensely changed. In the previous semester I struggled and nearly passed by a hair because I did not clearly understand the objectives that were given. In this semester, my mistakes had to be fixed. Although it was a process, I finally got around to clearly understanding what the objectives were for English 1302 and how to apply them to my papers for this course.
