The Ancient Civilization of Greece
This year, we learned a lot about ancient civilizations. They are Mesopotamia, Egypt, Kush, India, China, and Greece. Although they were all great civilizations with great achievements, in my eyes, Greece is the best ancient civilization. It was very successful. They had many great innovations, which helped produce things that we use today. The past leaders of Greece were smart, and tough, which made Greece’s military strong, and helped them win many battles. Another aspect of Greece that I really like is the mythology, poems, and fables. Greek writings are cool, teaches lessons, and is sometimes fun to read.
I really like Greek Mythology, fables, and poems. According to page 243, in the first paragraph, myths are stories that tell about gods and heroes that

Each story, or myth, explained natural or historical events. On page 247, paragraph 3, it says fables are short stories that teach the reader lessons about life or give advice on how to live. A man named Aesop is famous for his fables. In most of his fables, animals are the main characters. One of his famous fables is “The Tortoise and the Hare.” This fable is supposed to mean, it is better to work slowly and carefully than to hurry and make mistakes. I found this information on page 246, and 247. Some famous poets from Ancient Greece are Homer and Sappho. Two of Homer's famous poems are The Iliad, and the Odyssey. The Iliad is a story of the last years of the Trojan War. It focuses on the actions of the Greeks, especially Achilles, one of the greatest Greek warriors. It describes the battles between the Greeks and the Trojans. The other story, “The Odyssey” tells about Greek hero Odysseus’s challenges that he faced on his way home from the Trojan War. For 10 years after the war ended, Odysseus tries to get home, but many enemies and obstacles stand in his way.
From around 500 to 300 B.C.E, in Ancient Greece, the area had many contributions to modern Western civilization. Ancient Greece influenced Western civilization politically and socially. Ancient Greece influenced Western civilization with the spread of democracy and impacted Western civilization socially with its style of architecture using columns and the ancient Olympics.
Ancient Greece became a very influential civilization. Founded by the Minoans who first moved to the island of Crete in around 2000 B.C and lasted to about 1400 B.C. The Minoans developed an advanced civilization and expressed their culture in their constructed palaces. Great monuments were reached at Greece’s Golden Age from around 500 B.C to 300 B.C. The Greek Civilization was one of the greatest ancient civilizations to spring up. Though it faced many trials and tribulations, the ancient Greeks were a center of trade, economic development, and technological advancements. The success of the Greeks to construct such a flourishing culture was largely due to the area in which their civilization was located.
Greek mythology is the body of myths and legends belonging to the ancient Greeks, concerning their gods and heroes, the nature of the world, and the origins and significance of their own cult and ritual practices. They were a part of religion in ancient Greece. Modern scholars refer to, and study, the myths, in an attempt to throw light on the religious and political institutions of Ancient Greece, its civilization, and to gain understanding of the nature of myth-making itself.
During the time of the ancient Greeks we read about their remarkable achievements; whether it be social, political, or cultural, we would not understand their accomplishments if it weren’t for their precise interpretation of text and the development of a lasting language. When looking at our lives today, the lack of credit which goes to our ancient descendants is beyond decent; for the lives in which they established for themselves, only furthered our capability and our potential of exceeding what was never imagined. A civilization where individuals look to the text, the mathematical equations, and the records from that of the ancient Greeks and learn from it. Between their development of the written word, the idea of the recorded time, as
Mythology is a way that the ancient societies explained why things are the way they are and how they came to being. Two ancient societies are infamous for their mythology. These societies are Greece and Rome. Great authors were made be the mythological works they wrote. Homer was a famous author who is best known for his epics. It is from these epics that most of the gods and actual myths well known. I am writing of two of these gods in particular, Saturn and Dionsysus.
Throughout the ancient world, there were many civilizations that had many things in common, but as well many differences. The ancient civilization of Greece and the ancient civilization of India are not truly connected in a specific or direct way, yet there are many similar aspects within each culture. For example, Greece centered their culture around philosophy and politics. Greece also believed in the upanishads and mysticism. While India focused “more on the specifics of ritual and sacrifice” for priests and gods, and India also had the Caste system (Document 2).
The ancient Greek Civilization is famously known for their architecture, philosophical thinkers, mythology, and their knowledge of astronomy. Even with all of this Greece had slaves among their civilization.

If I were an artist and had to choose a place to live and to work in, I would choose ancient Rome, 80 AD because I believe I would experience a different state of mind. The time and place appealed to me because there were many amazing structures built, like the famous Colosseum, which is a huge structure where it was used to feature gladiator fights, animal fights, and other spectacles. Another structure is the Pantheon, which was dedicated to all of these gods and goddesses. This building has been used as a Christian church since the seventh century CE, some important artists such as the famous Renaissance painter, Raphael was buried
The Greek people were the most successful ancient civilization. The Greeks had interesting culture and religion. In Greek mythology they had gods for everything, Like Ares the god of war or Athena the god of wisdom. The Greeks also had the best art in ancient time they made their sculptures look very emotional.
I think Phoenicia is the best civilization because of its geography, inventions, and economically. Phoenicia’s geography was good because they were protected by the Mediterranean Sea and Mountains. Its inventions helped them a lot for trade and helped them get around the world. Phoenicia economically was good because they developed many trade routes which helped them get a lot of goods.

Have you ever really looked into the development of history? Have you ever wondered who contributed to western civilization? The ancient Greeks were perhaps one of the greatest civilizations of the ancient world and are among one of the biggest landmarks in all of world history. The Greeks affected philosophy, math, science, arts, architecture, drama and etc. Many of Greek principles and concepts have since been applied in civilizations throughout much of western history and have had a continuing impact on people in different phases of history. Numerous of philosophers, authors, and artists originated in Greece are believed to have influenced much of the world. There were other empires that were bigger than those of Greece, such as Rome and the British Empire, but none of these cultures produced more great thinkers, philosophers, and artists than Greece.
