The subjective element of beauty involves judgment, not opinion. Many people feel beauty is only something seen by the eyes. St. Thomas Aquinas views beauty in both the supernatural and natural orders. Aquinas lists the attributes of beauty to be found in nature. These are; unity, proportion, and clarity. We will see how these attributes of beauty are seen through the eye and felt by the heart. To begin, the concept of unity follows the Aristotelian proposition that nothing can be added to or taken away from a perfect work of art. Next, proportion, or the harmony of the parts to the whole and to each other is, based the mathematical and geometric relationships discovered by the Ancient Greeks. No beauty she doth miss When all her robes are on: But Beauty's self she is When all her robes are gone. (125) Hungerford’s famous quote typically means that each person sees beauty in a different fashion. Therefore, yes it’s true that a person’s appearance can be described as beautiful, but that is only part of the definition of beauty. Next, as Helen Keller explained, “beauty is not always seen, but it is also felt in the heart.” Beauty felt by the heart can also be found anywhere. This attribute of beauty can define a person’s heart and personality; not described as an inspiring view, or it can explain a person’s actions. In fact, a person can be beautiful just front the way they act towards others or the way they go about their daily lives. For instance, a simple smile from an individual helping a homeless person can be defined as beautiful. Additionally, someone sitting in a coffee shop lost in thought while reading a book or a child playing in the park. Beauty can also be found in a baby sleeping peacefully or even an elderly couple walking and holding hands. During these unintentional moments, the viewer is allowed to see past what society wants people to think is beautiful and is truly able to catch a glimpse of what Keller describes as beauty being felt by the heart. In the 14th century the word beauty was known as “physical attractiveness,” also “goodness courtesy,” from Angelo French beute. Beauty was once known as how someone looks to

"Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and most importantly, a beautiful soul." (Unknown) Beauty is not just about being beautiful on the outside it is also on the inside. I feel that people have to be beautiful both on the inside and outside. Beauty is mostly on the inside because they are the people who are nicer and kinder. A person personality can make the person more beautiful because it is the way people act and talk. People are more beautiful on the inside because it is the way people talk and act.
Spoken wisely by Plato, ¨Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder¨ (Goodreads). In Alice Walker's short story ¨Beauty: When the Other Dancer is the Self,¨ the reader follows a young girl as she struggles to find the meaning of true beauty. As a child, she was always extremely full of herself, begging for attention and, most times, achieving her position in the spotlight. However, when she turns eight, an incident occurs that leaves her questioning if she'll ever be beautiful again. Much like this young girl, I experienced a similar situation that had me questioning my own worth in a world of beautifully powerful people. What such a self-analyzing question can bring to light is the controversy over whether beauty is in relation to appearance or in relation to a person as a whole.

The view of beauty is not universal. Everybody, male or female, is free to make up their own definition of beauty.
The meaning of beauty does not signify on how you look. It means that no matter your size, shape, or form you’re beautiful no matter what. Beauty comes from within and reflects on the outer side.

Beauty is something that can be interpreted completely different from person to person. A famous quote that goes along with this perfectly is “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” I think a person’s inner beauty should be taken into account when deciding whether or not a person is beautiful. Wikipedia’s definition of beauty is, “a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction” while Oxford Dictionary states, “beauty is a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially sight.” As you can see, inner beauty could be paired with Wiki’s definition and outer beauty could be paired with Oxfords. Of course, there
