Today’s society is made up of such an abundant number of controversial issues. One of the most controversial issues being abortion- the act of intentionally termination a pregnancy resulting in the death of the fetus (Kreider, A. personal communication, March 24, 2011). Abortion is both constitutionally and morally wrong, and should be illegal in the United States in all but two cases: if the mother was raped (and pregnancy was as a result of the rape) or if the mother’s life would be put in endangerment by the pregnancy. Abortion is murder at any stage of pregnancy, and acts against the U.S. Constitution. Not only does abortion harm innocent babies, but abortion also rises the risk of medical complications for the mother. Majority of …show more content…
It is immoral and injustices to deprive an unborn, but nevertheless living, child from a valuable feature (Mappes & Zembaty, 2007). At 7 weeks of development the individual has all its facial parts, arms, legs, skin, bones, organs and muscles (Papalia, Wendkos & Feldman , 2009). The fetus has just about all the same features that make someone a person, the only difference is that the fetus can’t survive outside the mothers womb. So why is it that if one, for example, kills the person next to you, one is convicted of murder. But one is not convicted of murder if one ends the life of a fetus with the same traits? Murder is the act of killing a person. Abortion is the act of killing a person. Therefore, abortion is murder. So why should a mother who does not want a child she conceived be allowed to have an abortion and not be charged with murder? Abortion abolishes an innocent human life and is unconstitutional. As a civilized society, how can one permit a sacred human life to be taken way without choice. The United States has allowed for such an unethical thing to occur for years, by making abortion legal. But abortion is against the U.S. Constitution and should be banned. You may ask why is abortion against the constitution? Well abortion is against the constitution because if opposes Amendment XIV: Sections 1 that states No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge
Abortion has taken the lives of more than 50 million babies since 1973 (“About Abortion”). The issue of abortion is one of the most common controversial issues in American politics and culture. In modern society, many women that have an unintended pregnancy and they result to abortion without researching other options. Abortion is not a substitute for birth control and this issue should be taken seriously. The individual woman needs to understand that by agreeing to have an abortion she is agreeing to kill an innocent fetus. Abortion rips the unborn child from his or hers right to life. Society needs to let women see through the eyes of the fetus and find alternative ways to raise the baby. Abortion should be
Let’s move to the next topic, why the abortion is unconstitutional. When the United States became an Independent Nation the Founding Fathers declared “All men are created equal…with certain unalienable Rights…Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” (A Transcription 1776). The 14th Amendment of the US Constitution provides that no person should be ‘deprived of life’ without option to the due process of the law. At conception a new life comes into existence, one with a unique genetic code and the unlimited potential for greatness that is concealed in all humans, the progression into a baby, then toddler, child, teenager, adult is certain. However, aborting a fetus denies it of life and the ability to relish its future liberty and the pursuit
The battle over abortion began with the case of Roe versus Wade on January 22, 1973. This conflict has quickly become one of the most predominant matters of society. By analyzing philosophical theories, biological facts, and psychological affects of abortion, one is able to conclude that abortion is murder. Through education and awareness programs, abortion can be acknowledged as immoral and unethical, thus preventing such crimes from being committed. This process of education starts with the recent history of the battle over abortion in our country.
In my view abortion is definitely an inhumane practice, from the statistics provided over 4,000 children's lives are actually destroyed in the brand of preference each day, and at the same time over 4,000 females are harmed daily emotionally. Three thousand 3 hundred and twenty-two abortions happen everyday globally. This breaks my center to know that persons would kill their very own child. Abortion may be the termination of a human being pregnancy, performed through the initial 28 weeks of being pregnant. Some persons say it's merely an abortion but do they go through the dilemna it's a baby they are killing, a human. Despite the fact that the fetus isn't completely developed it nonetheless has existence from god running right through its
Abortion is a highly complex issue within our society today. The scope of considerations concerning abortion encompasses physical health (including death), emotional wellbeing, finances, philosophy, ethics, and religious perspective. Not to mention the enormous political arena for debate surrounding the issue. Even though abortion is federally legal in the United States, it is a concern, which laces many elections and a substantial amount of legislation in every state. In fact, every state regulates abortion differently from the next. The reasons for choosing to terminate or bring a pregnancy to term are vast and multifaceted. Pro-life advocates support the abolition of abortion, while proponents of the pro-choice movement support a woman’s right to choose. Because there are as many viewpoints as there are individuals, widespread support exists on both sides of the issue.
There are not many issues that are as divisive as abortion. From arguments over women’s rights, freedom of choice, or health to an unborn human’s rights, freedom to live, or just his general well-being, there are few issues that divide people as much and are debated as much as the abortion issue. However, the undisputed fact is that since Roe v. Wade went into effect, over 60 million unborn babies have been killed. Many in the medical field have shifted their opinions on this matter and as more people conclude that unborn humans are one hundred percent human, the debate changes from a scientific standpoint morality versus convenience standpoint. Abortion must be outlawed because it could compromise the
In today’s society, the topic of abortion has become the center of many heated debates all across the country and all over our state. This subject matter has been one of much concern and has completely divided the citizens of the United States of America. This issue causes so much controversy because it can easily be viewed from multiple perspectives going from “it is the choice of the mother” all the way to “it is the murder of a new life.” No matter what stance someone takes on this, everyone can agree that this is a pressing issue in the United States because it challenges the traditional way of thinking that if a mother is pregnant, she must have her child. This is an issue that has haunted and will continue to haunt people all across our
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to have your right to live taken away? A baby fetus doesn’t even get a chance to decide whether or not they want to live or not when inside the mothers’ womb. A baby has no say because the mother has the power to just “get rid” of a child. Abortion would just be a gateway to get rid of a child by killing it. There are many other different ways to prevent or give away a child you do not want. Abortion isn’t the only answer, and it doesn’t only affect the child’s life but also the mothers severely. Abortion shouldn’t be legal because most women will use it for selfish reasons.
Abortion is one of the most controversial issues in America today. Abortion is the ending of pregnancy before birth. There are approximately 1.5 million abortions every year in this country. Abortion was made legal in the 1970s. However, pro-life activists argue that it is murder. Should the government have the legal power to take away a woman\\'s right to make decisions regarding her own body?
An innocent child is killed because the mother is not prepared for a baby at that time in her life. Is it right for her to terminate her pregnancy because she doesn't want to raise a child? Abortion should be banned because too many babies are being killed from abortion, baby’s have been reported to survive abortions, and if you don't want a child or you don’t feel you could raise it you could always put it up for adoption.
A pro-abortionist considers life to begin once the mother has successfully delivered the child during birth. The nine months that the infant is in the mother’s womb, he or she is considered a fetus. An abortion to these particular individuals is not considered murder, but rather terminating a fetus (Walsh). A fetus is an unborn mammal or human being (Dictionary.com). So, if a fetus is considered a human being, then why is it not murder? The infant is a human being, but just has not been born yet? Some would say that abortion is necessary is some instances. For example, it would be okay if there were health concerns for either the unborn child or the mother during the pregnancy. If an individual does not want to
Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy. It has been going on for many centuries. No one knows when the first abortion was because many of them were never documented. Approximately half of the women in the United States have had at least one pregnancy that they aborted (“Abortion In”). In the 1820s there were laws forbidding abortion after fourth month of pregnancy. Many feminist, such as Susan B. Anthony are against abortion. Susan B. Anthony was an American civil rights leader in the 19th century (“Susan B. Anthony”).
Abortion is never an easy decision, in fact its one of America’s most controversial issues in today’s reality, but women have none the less been making that choice for thousands of years. Studies show that about 43% of American women will have one or more abortions during their lifetime, and women's centers and hospitals perform more than a million abortions on an annual basis. Women have many reasons for not wanting to be pregnant including age, marital status, economic status, and the circumstances of their pregnancy, and thus seek out an abortion. Although many citizens view abortion as an immoral act of brutality and strongly contest its usage, others believe the choice belongs solely to the mother and the mother alone.
Abortion is one of the most controversial subjects that has been continually argued over for many years all over the world that poses the questions death or life. Abortion discusses one’s interaction where ethics, emotions, medical, and law come into place. According to the Webster Dictionary abortion is the loss of the fetus or unborn child before it can live outside the womb. The killing a human life is a contradiction to the norms of society, from a biblical point of view, one will believe that abortion is wrong because it is a sin that is stated in Exodus 20:13, the sixth commandment of the law of God "Thou shall not kill", and such an act should be outright illegal. According to W. L. Saunders, “Every human being begins as a
Since 1973, 58 million babies have been murdered in the U.S. This amounts to 150 deaths per hour. The reason for these deaths is abortion. Abortion is a medical procedure done to terminate an unborn baby’s life. The abortion industry claims this procedure is safe. However, these claims are false since abortion not only ends at least one life, but it also has lasting negative effects on the mother's. Not only is a woman damaged physically after an abortion, but she is mentally injured, with 40 to 60 percent of women having a negative reaction in some way. Ultimately, Abortion is harmful to the woman and the unborn life.
