Scrooge is an overly grumpy, greedy, curmudgeon, mild, insensitive, thoughtless, dolorous, elderly man who lives in a house all by himself. He has silver, gray hair, a pointed nose, and wiry chin. He acts like a harsh, miserable, lonely, gloomy, and depressed fellow. He also was very unfriendly to those young fellows who were trying to gather donations for the poor. When Scrooge was younger, he was actually very kind and generous to the people around him. Scrooge is very inconsiderate of others, and according to the text on page one, stave one it said that “ No wind blew was bitterer than he”, and he was a person who did not believe in the Christmas spirit until a trio of ghosts shows him his past, present, and future.
According to the text the first of spirits Scrooge met was the past. When the first of the three spirits (the past) brought Scrooge to see himself in the past, it was very tragic for Scrooge. The lesson that Scrooge learns is that never let good time with family and friends pass by. A example from the text that it was tragic for Scrooge was that the text said said “ Remove me, Scrooge exclaimed, I cannot bear it!”. In the passage it states that as soon as Scrooge passed through his very own wall he said “ Good Heaven! Scrooge said, clasping his hands together, as he looked about him. “ I was bred in this place, I was a boy here.” Scrooge was actually very pleasant with the seeing his past.
On the second night of the three ghosts Scrooge wasn't
Scrooge keeps the coal-box in his own room so the clerk is not able to
The text explicitly states Scrooge, a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, clutching, covetous, old sinner has passed away. According to the text, he despises many things such as happiness, humor, and even Christmas. From the reading, I know that he is depressed all the time, consequently his mental state has led him to call other people stupid, dumb, and idiots. On page three, in the conversation with his nephew Fred, Scrooge insults his nephew about marrying and loving his wife. The text states, that he also “seized the ruler with such energy of action, that the singer fled in terror, leaving the keyhole to the frost and even more congenial frost.” From the reading I know that Scrooge isn’t a people person and is very down about life. Based on the text he doesn’t really like being around them. For example Scrooge didn’t donate any money to the poor, and blew off his nephew about spending Christmas with them. In the text it states that there is no wind as bare as Scrooge, this means he doesn't really care or doesn't have many feelings.
Scrooge is a rude, dismal man who hates mankind, and Christmas. During Christmastime there is a lot of charity and for being such a wealthy man that Scrooge is, he hates to give money to charity. He also thinks that Christmas is waste of time, and it could be used for
‘’The cold within him froze his old features. ’’ I believe that this description shows that Scrooge is unbelievably cold-hearted, even unrealistically so: ‘’No wind blew bitterer than he, no falling snow more intent upon its purpose, no pelting rain less open to entreaty. Foul weather didn’t know where to have him.’’ This description displays that not even the weather has an effect on him, it is also apparent that Scrooge’s personality was worse than any weather, he was bitterer than any blizzard colder than any rainfall.
Scrooge is a very mean person and he doesn't care for anyone, he will be an old miser and he could care less about anything in the world except himself. He does mean stuff all the time liked decline charity and he doesn't even wanna make the world a better place. He even declined his nephews invite to a Christmas party now that's mean and when he's asked to donate for charity he is too much of a greedy soul to do anything to help anyone and he says that they need to go to a workhouse or prison, He doesn't care about anyone and he ignores everyone and could care less about the world's problems. He thinks that that is ok and then he gets a visit from a ghost saying that three ghosts are gonna come get him and that he shouldn't have been that greedy and he is gonna get a visit from them. Scrooge is freaking out and it takes him a while and he eventually gets sent to bed. In my opinion, though he is acting like that because Marley died and he is emotionally depressed and he takes his pain out on others because he is very said that's just my opinion.
At the beginning of A Christmas Carol, Scrooge is bitter, greedy, and selfish. He was rude to just about everyone he met, because he was discouraged over losing some really important people in his life. And since he was upset over that, he definitely didn’t have to try to act the way he was feeling. He had a right to be feeling that way, but he shouldn’t have taken action. But as he met three ghosts, Scrooge changes from these traits through his experiences throughout the story.
Scrooge had a miserable childhood where he was always in a boarding school and his parents never visited him. If you were sent to a boarding school and felt your parents forgot you, would you be an angry adult? Scrooge in the Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a major character in the story in which he is not very nice to anybody because of his life happenings. When he appears in the story, he is greedy and doesn’t want to like anybody, he is a very unhappy man that only cares about himself. But at the end he kind of is clear that he was very childish and that he didn’t care about anyone else but himself so he decided he wanted to change his act. While he is with all the spirits, he goes from greedy and mean to clear of his mistakes, he wanted to be nice to everybody, and wanted to tell people that, by giving back to them in any way possible.
The spirit wanted Scrooge to be happy and not be greedy anymore so the spirit takes scrooge through his past to remember how happy he was. Scrooge felt bad for himself because of all the good memories that were made when he was a kid. After the spirit showed scrooge his past, scrooge felt bad for himself. He says “poor boy” an tears up, then he wishes that gave something to the little boy that came carolling at his door. Scrooge wishes that he could be happy like he was when he was a little boy. He changes some but he doesn't change all the way.
Scrooge Scrooge is disrespectful to everyone around him. He is miserable now that Marley, his business partner of many years has died. According to the text, Scrooge hates things like happiness, generosity, and Christmas. Oh!
To start, the result of Scrooge being visited by the ghost of Christmas past had made him become loving. In scene 5, the ghost took him to his past childhood where he got to visit Fan, a loved one of his, the sister. This memory was important because he had been filled with so much anger and sadness and getting to see his sister Fan again made him feel a bit loving and joyful. “How I loved dear Fan.” Scrooge has once said. This changed Scrooge to be nicer to the ghost and nicer to all the other ghost yet to come, because he knew they would take him to see something or someone he misses or loves so he didn’t give the ghosts attitude. After being visit by Christmas past he became loving.
Ebenezer Scrooge, was disrespectful to everyone around him, is miserable now that Marley, his business partner of many years has died. According to the text, Scrooge hates things like happiness, generosity, and Christmas. Oh! How he hates Christmas! His feelings about Christmas are consistent until three ghosts show him that his way of thinking is wrong. On pages one and two, it says “External heat and cold had little influence on Scrooge. No warmth could warm, no wintry weather could chill him. No wind that blew was bitterer than he, no falling snow was more intent upon it’s purpose.” The author was saying nothing can change how he acts towards other people. Scrooge was a person who was always down, gloomy, and moody. For example on page one there is a description of him and it says, “ The cold within him froze his old features, nipped his pointed nose, shriveled his cheek, stiffened his gait; made his eyes red, his lips blue and spoke out shrewdly in his grating voice. A frosty rime was on his head, and on his eyebrows, and his wiry chin.” His wrinkled, aged, rough appearance reflects his inner feelings. According to the text, “Scrooge carried his own low temperature everywhere he went.” Scrooge’s demeanor was always low.
Scrooge is a peculiar man , but the way he looks is not the brightest appearance in the world.Scrooge is an old man he has wrinkles , and gray hair . He is a grumpy , rude , and peculiar man.I think he kinda looks like he just came out of prison. He also wears round , gold glasses and he is always holding a feather with ink on it with a pice of paper always waiting to write something down that is negative or positive , but most of the time he is not very positive. He also usually wears a suit with no tie and a very heavy winter
After the exit of the final spirit, Scrooge emerges a changed man. He was a man who thought money was everything, who thought Christmas was just an excuse for picking a man’s pocket, and who thought poor people shouldn’t deserve a donation. Now he is a man who spreads Christmas cheer, buys huge birds as presents, and raises his clerk's salary. Scrooge shows change as the Spirit of Christmas Present takes him to his colleague(the Cratchit’s) house When Scrooge sees how positive Tiny Tim is being in the condition this leads him to say ”Oh, please spirit say he’ll be spared”(page 9, stave III). The previous quote shows that Scrooge has developed empathy towards others. Scrooge again shows change when the Spirit of Christmas Future takes Scrooge takes him to a cemetery, Scrooge goes to the tombstone nearest to him scrubs off the snow, and sees it’s his, Scrooge wanting to avoid this says ”I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.
Going through his transformation he is visited by ghosts thought his past. These ghosts helped him change because you can tell he is starting feel solem when the Ghost of Christmas Past journeys him though his past. On his journey to change for the better the Ghost of Christmas Past takes him on a journey through his past life. This helps Scrooge transform into a better person because he is witnessing his sister Fan and how much he loved her and how he wishes he could get her back. That has a huge impact on Scrooge because he begins to realize what he had lost, and begins to toughen up and let the light shine, and starts being nicer to people as he would have been to his sister, and how he sister would of wanted him to
Ebenezer Scrooge is the major character in the story, A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens. A Christmas Carol is about how a “cold-hearted, tight fisted, selfish” money grabbing man is offered an opportunity of a life time, to change his behaviour, attitude... to have a second chance in life.
