What are the variables involved with testing the prediction in row one which states, “...people will hold their breath a shorter time just after exercise compared to when they are at rest.” dependent variable - _L¢N4th 0f breath we\a independent variable - | Everuied, controlled variables (name at least three) - Y& MPETTWTe, Came dictance, swbieck 2. Describe the test/experiment you will conduct to test the prediction that people will hold their breath a shorter time just after exercise compared to when they are at rest.” The description should provide an adequate amount of detail that would allow others to repeat it. It can also state any pertinent observations about the experiment. - .hvh Cubiect Wil (it dOwn & hold theit breath: The subieer witl theh PRTFOTM 10 GUMPING dacks wold ¥nede ofeatw The tore tired Y0w ave, the Chorter YO can hold Wour breath. 3. 4. Conduct your experiment! Use a timer to measure the length of time subjects can hold their breath at rest, and after exercise. Conduct the experiment three times to obtain three “at rest” and three “after exercise” measurements | Average = sum of the values for each subject. Calculate the average length of time of breath holding from number of values the data you collect. To calculate the average, add the numbers (values) in your data set and divide by the number of values in your data set. Record the data in table 2 below. Draw two bars on your graph, one Tor “at rest” and one for “after exercise”. Bar graphs are a useful way to compare different groups. You will need to number the x and y axis of the graph according to the range of data you collected. Figure 1.
