BIBL 110 Utilizing either a translation of choice or creating a paraphrase of your own, use this space to re-write the full passage of scripture. Please do not copy and paste from an existing translation, but rather, write out the passage word-by-word in order to slowly reflect on the content. Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night, he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”   And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”    He said, “Come.” So, Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.”    Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”    And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” 4 Step Three: Reflect Use this space to answer the following questions. Consult The Inquisitive Christ for insight into pertinent Gospel texts. If there is dialogue in the passage, who is speaking (in 1 complete sentence)? Yes, Jesus and Peter share dialogue. What questions are asked in the passage? Please list all questions located in the passage. Peter asked Jesus to walk on water. Jesus asked O you of little faith, why did you doubt. How would you answer each of the questions asked (in at least 3 sentences)? I would have asked Jesus to walk on water also, and more than likely been afraid of the wind like Peter. I would answer Jesus telling him I was afraid, due to things I cannot control like the weather. However, if I had completely surrendered to Jesus in that moment, I would have nothing to fear. What words or phrases stand out to you, and why? Are any words/themes repeated? If so, share why you think there is repetition. Please answer with at least 3 sentences. 4 The Holy Bible , ESV.
