2 Project Two Milestone Research Study: Children’s Extension of Disgust to Physical and Moral Events 1. Select a peer-reviewed journal article and describe its relevance to you personally or professionally in about 50 to 75 words. I selected the research study called "Children's Extension of Disgust to Physical and Moral Events." The article relates to me on a personal level because I do want to be a mom in the future, and I have spent a lot of time with kids in my social circle. Those kids that I have interacted with talk a lot about what they find disgusting. Most of the time the children find certain foods disgusting. 2. Describe the purpose of the peer-reviewed journal article in about 25 to 50 words. The purpose of this research study is to determine what adults and children find to be disgusting, morals, and the various facial expressions of different individuals. The authors stated, "Likewise, children associate facial expressions of disgust with moral violations. These findings are discussed in the context of different theories about the relationship between physical disgust and moral disgust" (Danovitch & Bloom, 2009). 3. Identify the major methodological design of the peer-reviewed journal article in about 25 to 50 words. The methodological design that I identified in this research study was experimental. I chose this design because the article states that they went to schools selecting various children from different grade levels to participate in the study. 4. Identify strengths and weaknesses of the specific measurement used to operationalize one of the key variables in about 50 to 100 words. One of the strengths of the specific measurement used to operationalize one of the key variables is stated best by the authors, "What we know is that children come to find entities like feces and vomit to be disgusting, and they are able to describe them as such and that adult's direct language of disgust to what they see as moral violations, such as unfair accusation about a loved one," (Danovitch & Bloom, 2009). This response was related with all ages of the children that participated. One of the weaknesses that I found throughout the article was that the research study only selected boys and Caucasian children in the sample size. I think it would be more beneficial to have more
