2 Abstract For many years, the thought or discussion of abortion has become a major issue. Here you have people who believe that the mother has the choice to make whether the child lives or dies. Then you have the people who believe the unborn fetus has rights. Now you have the Christian who must really ask, from what point is life set in motion? Some maintain the belief that a life starts when a man and a women conceive. This paper will agree with life as a conception but also can see distinct reasons why the mother could have the moral and ethical right to not have child. Outline Introduction One of my favorite scriptures out the bible is Jeremiah 1:5, Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you before you were born, I set you apart;” i This verse speaks to us to let you know that you was already destine to be. When you think about life and who gives us life it begins to be a conflict when the thought of anyone taking a life like abortion does. One can say there are also conflicts on why abortions may be necessary. In this paper we will look at if human life starts with a fetus, then it is the Christian obligation to preserve that life. History of Abortions To really look at everything from every angle we have to look how abortions came to be. Abortions has always been around since the beginning of time. In the 1880’s women gave themselves abortions. ii It was not a actual topic until the 1840’s. iii Over time this has been a heated debate in the United States. When one talks about abortion you have to think about the

3 1970’s case Roe vs Wade that said the fetus was not a person and it was the women’s decision. But has been overturned in 2022. As a Christian the law Roe vs Wade has been a conflict because the says before I formed you in the womb. So that is as a fetus you are alive. World’s View Where does the world stand? You have pro-life, pro-choice, and the muddled middle. iv You have the liberals or the conservatives. Liberals think that everyone has the right to make their own decisions while conservatives want to make the decisions for you that the fetus is a human life. As a Christian we have to believe in pro-life. In my opinion though I have to look at if it is all in gods plan then it happens any way because if everything was good how would God get the glory. The bible shows that God does not make it very clear either way. Life Value To God life is so valuable that he gave his son so we could come back into fellowship with him, so all life is important ad has a purpose. I believe that no matter what we say about abortions or anything even close to this topic we all truly believe that the Lord has a purpose for us all. Even that fetus whether it lives or dies had a purpose and it served it purpose. Conclusion The question of is human life starts as a fetus are Christians obligation to preserve that life? If you really look at the bible and what it says yes, a s a Christians we must preserve life. It depends on which life and that is where the spirit of discernment comes in. Sometimes it is not the fetus you have to save but the person who is carrying the fetus must be save.
