1 Agenda Slide What is Agile? Characteristics of Agile Agile Manifesto Distinctions between Agile and Waterfall Notes Agile is a method that enables project teams to adapt more quickly and efficiently than other project approaches.   With constant pressures for innovation, traditional project approaches are not handling projects adequately, and documenting all requirements upfront can be challenging to quickly adapt to changes successfully.   This presentation will provide fundamental information on the basics of Agile methodology. We’ll discuss what Agile is, its characteristics, Its values, and the distinctions between Agile and waterfall project management. Voiceover Agile is a project management approach developed as a more flexible and efficient way to get products to market. ‘agile’ refers to the ability to move quickly and easily. Therefore, an Agile approach enables project teams to adapt faster and easier compared to other project methodologies.  With constant pressures to innovate, many of today’s projects have more unknowns than a traditional project management methodology can handle. This uncertainty makes it challenging to document requirements and adapt to changes successfully. This presentation will provide some fundamental information on the basics of Agile methodology. We’ll discuss the Agile methodology, the characteristics of Agile, agile values, and the distinctions between Agile and Waterfall. What is Agile methodology? Slide A project management approach that focuses on incremental and iterative steps. The method focuses on fast delivery, adjusting to change, and collaboration. Ongoing engagement with stakeholders Continuous development at each project stage. Notes Agile is a project approach involving breaking a project into several phases, known as sprints.  It’s a more flexible method with ongoing cycles of development, execution, and evaluation and an iterative process that allows for constant improvement.  Collaboration is vital in this project approach with the project team and its stakeholders, as it aids in obtaining feedback and evaluation results.
2 Voiceover Agile projects require an iterative approach, which supports incremental, frequent, and consistent delivery of workable products to a customer or client. This innovative approach ensures a project team can consistently deliver concrete products without being delayed by changes and evolving requirements. The Agile method works in ongoing sprints of project planning and execution, enabling one to continuously adapt and mature their plan, scope, and design throughout the project.  Agile emphasizes client involvement and frequent progress reviews with both the project team and the client. Continuous collaboration is also emphasized, both within the project team and with the project stakeholders. This constant communication allows for fully informed decisions and ensures that the final deliverable meets the customer's needs as closely as possible. Agile is a set of values and principles, and later, we will review the four values of the Agile. Characteristics of Agile Slide Enhanced client collaboration Adaptive planning Empowered Incremental and Iterative Change is embraced Focused on delivering value Transparency Cross-functional teams Flexibility Ongoing innovation Notes These are vital characteristics encompassed with Agile. Agile teams have continuous customer contact, are cross-functional and empowered, can adapt, provide faster delivery, focus on value delivery, are transparent, and lead to ongoing innovation. As previously mentioned, Agile methodology allows for flexibility and adaptability, encouraging changes, no matter how late in development, as the focus is delivering value. Voiceover Agile characteristics encompass various aspects, from team structure to leadership style. Agile teams have continuous customer contact, are cross-functional and empowered, can adapt, provide faster delivery, focus on value delivery, are transparent, and lead to ongoing innovation.  Agile organizations typically lack a top-down hierarchy, focusing on a customer-centric approach, shared purpose and vision, open communication, and an empowered team structure.  Because delivering value is of the utmost importance with Agile, changes can be incorporated with minimal effort, no matter how far along the project.  Agile Values (Agile Manifesto)
3 Slide – Add clip art to the front of each of these Individuals and interactions over processes and tools Working software over comprehensive documentation Customer collaboration over contract negotiation Responding to change over following a plan Notes The Agile Manifesto centers around four values that focus on quality by creating products that meet customers’ needs and expectations. Individuals and interactions over processes and tools  focus on the importance of effective teamwork and collaboration over the reliance on rigid systems and tools. Working software over comprehensive documentation  underlines the significance of having a functional product over excessive documentation. Customer collaboration over contract negotiation  is the value surrounding the importance of working closely with clients to meet and deliver their needs instead of focusing on negotiated contracts. Responding to change over following a plan  focuses on the significance of flexibility and adaptability. Voiceover Agile project management was established on four values and twelve principles. These values and principles are rooted in the Agile Manifesto, created in 2001 by seventeen software developers. Much of the philosophy that underpins the Agile Manifesto came about in reaction to what people perceived as the bottlenecks of software development processes at the time. o Individuals and interactions over processes and tools:  While tools and processes are essential, the Agile Manifesto prioritizes the people behind them. Having the right people in place and empowering them to interact smoothly with each other can lead to successes that tools alone won't be able to achieve. o Working software over comprehensive documentation:  This principle emphasizes the importance of having a functional product over excessive documentation. Agile's creators believed it was more important to get stuff done than get bogged down in the planning and documentation stages. o Customer collaboration over contract negotiation:  This principle emphasizes the importance of working closely with customers to understand their needs and deliver a product that meets them rather than focusing primarily on contract negotiation. Instead of siloing stakeholders from the project, Agile aims to maintain contact with them throughout the creation process. o Responding to change rather than following a plan emphasizes  the importance of flexibility and adaptability in project management. Following a plan that no longer makes sense can be counterproductive. Adaptation is fundamental to the Agile philosophy.
