1. Provide a summary of the work you did when completing the decision matrix
analysis for the mother deciding which car to buy. What are some key things you
learned while completing the activity?
I suggested one of the criterions and helped select the weights and rating factors. We
selected the weights and ratings based on what we felt was best for the mother from
the statement we were given.
Key things I learned are:
-
Sometimes a problem definition is very broad therefore you could have many
outcomes or solutions
-
You have to think about the customers wants and needs all the time throughout
this process.
2. Discuss your role in helping your team come up with four viable solutions and
completing the required AHP/Decision Matrix analysis.
My role was to create the Decision Matrix Analysis and put in all the data we discussed
into it then paste it onto our jamboard. First, I created the AHP chart to write down all
our criteria so that I could assign weights to each criterion on the Decision Matrix.
Everyone on the team each gave in their own input to help pick the best 4 solutions from
the ones we had. We thought about what would be most important from the
stakeholders' statements and feedback from the other teams.

3. What did you learn while completing the “A” mountain design project?
I learnt how to use the Engineering Design Process effectively. While completing the ‘A’
mountain design project I learned:
-
how to define problems and use POV statements to further understand the
problem
-
how to define requirements and criteria from customer’s requests
-
how to evaluate criteria using the Analytic Hierarchy Process
-
how to use the information provided and AHP to come up with solutions
-
how to create a decision matrix and use it
I also learned that as an engineer you should always keep the customer central in
everything you do.
4. Write the questions you had for the teams pitches you watched (not including your
own). Provide the team number and the question (one question per team).
Team 1:
Where is the other end of the zipline and do you have to pay to use it?
Team 2:
How will people with no devices get information, are there physical boards on the
mountain with information?
Team 3:
Is the color that is being added to the mountain environment friendly?
Team 4:
Who will handle the firework rocks?
Team 5:
Are the packages free or do you have to pay for them?
Team 7:
Is the park easily accessible by disabled people?
Team 8:
Will you charge people to use the ski lift and if so how much?
Team 9:
Why did you decide not to put ASU on the front of the mountain which would have
been easily seen from campus?
Team 10:
Will the projector screen be in the museum & observatory or outside somewhere on
the mountain?
