3-1 Discussion: Iterative Process Choose an aspect of the iterative process that you think is a weakness. Describe it, explaining and defending your reasoning. Likewise, choose an aspect of the iterative process that you think is one of its strengths. Describe it, explaining and defending your reasoning. Be sure to provide examples and fully develop your ideas so that your peers have plenty of information to which they can reply. Make comments and respond to at least two of your peers, providing feedback and your assessment on what they posted regarding weaknesses and strengths. One weakness of the iterative process is the vague timelines it creates. Since iterative processes constantly change and revise until they are satisfied with the end product, they can stretch beyond desirable lengths. Testing different increments varies in duration, thus causing iterations to last longer than anticipated. This variance can cause projects to go over budget since the duration variance was not considered at the onset of the project. While the testing and creating phase of the iteration process causes vague timelines, this phase is a strength. Testing and making changes to the iteration in real-time allows for better innovation and a better product delivered at the end of the iteration. Having the ability to test, tweak, and adjust the
product in real time sometimes gives way to aspects that we did not anticipate at the start of the iteration.
