For this assignment, I worked with my instructional leader who is over our ELA curriculum. Her position was assigned by the principal to make sure all teachers and students have everything they need for the curriculum, instructional guidance, and provides additional support for observations/evaluations. Mrs. Hughes focuses on building relationships with all staff members and students which serves the needs for the educational community being built at Byrd Avenue Primary. She attempts to visit each classroom daily to assist and increase her communication skills amongst the teachers and students. Mrs. Hughes aims to provide positive feedback that helps encourage the teachers while assisting them in any areas they may have difficulty with. Our principal has been very thorough for this leadership role and provides her with distinct responsibilities that assist the teacher’s relationship with administrator. For the observation, I was able to observe a fellow teacher who teaches Kindergarten with Mrs. Hughes. This provided me with an understanding of her leadership role and the leaders and teacher rapport throughout the observation process. The day of the observation, I was given several areas to look for through a rubric from Mrs. Hughes. I was not able to conduct a pre-conference or post-conference due to the administrators having training going on and not allowing me permission to do so for this assignment. However, Mrs. Hughes and I were able to speak before the observation and after. During the observation, we were able to remain in the classroom for about 45 minutes of the teacher’s lesson. Though most lessons are completed in an hour, the teacher gave a great observation that covered most of the rubric Mrs. Hughes provided me. Feedback for the observation was limited due to not having the post-conference. However, I was allowed to speak to the teacher for a few minutes before we left her classroom. Mrs. Carhee, the kindergarten teacher, has such a great rapport with Mrs. Hughes that she was anxious to have feedback for the
