pilaf

(pronounced pi-LAHF or PEE-lahf) is the usual American spelling of the name of a dish, especially a Middle Eastern or Asian dish, made with rice or wheat and sometimes fish or meat. But pilaff is also a Standard spelling, and pilau and pilaw also turn up on menus from time to time.  1
