| These two indefinite pronouns demand singular verbs, but because of notional agreement subsequent pronouns that refer to them may be plural in Standard English, as in Almost nobody [no one] comes to these meetings, but they always want to see the minutes. Note, however, that most Formal Edited English will usually try to maintain the strict singular in subsequent pronouns unless clarity would be damaged thereby. | 1 |
