uptight (adj.)

is probably a slang term, but at least one dictionary considers it Standard; it means “angry, nervous, unbendingly conventional, tense, irritable,” as in She was uptight when the contest began, but she’s always been an uptight sort of person. Best advice: don’t use uptight in Oratorical or Formal contexts.  1
