| In spelling the French word for a meat paste, be sure to retain the circumflex and acute accent or at least the acute accent, in order to distinguish the word from pate, meaning the top of the head, as in His bald pate glowed in the bright lights. Pâté has two syllables (pah-TAI), pate only one (PAIT). | 1 |
