pastoral (adj.), pastorale (n.)

Pastoral applies to shepherds, sheep, and the rural life or, in its extended sense, to spiritual shepherds—pastors—and their “flocks”—congregations. A pastorale is a musical composition suggesting idyllic pastoral or rural subjects; the term is sometimes loosely or figuratively used of literary or dramatic works in that vein.  1
