PARAGRAPH

A paragraph is a unit of prose a sentence or more in length, logically cohesive and set off in writing by its indented first line. The only limits on the length of a paragraph are provided by common sense: a string of choppy, very short paragraphs can have a breathless, disconnected quality damaging to the flow of exposition. An extremely long paragraph, with no relief for the eye or the mind, can be boring and cause the reader’s attention to wander.  1
One convention to note: in presenting dialogue, let each speaker’s words begin a new paragraph.  2
