Newspeak (n.)

Standard as either proper or common noun, was coined by George Orwell in his novel 1984; it means “deceptive or lying language used by government to manipulate its citizens” and hence by extension “deliberately ambiguous, misleading language used by the devious to deceive the unwary into believing that the bad is really good.” See DOUBLESPEAK; EUPHEMISM; EUPHEMISMS; WEASEL WORDS.  1
