bisect, dissect (vv.)
 
 
To bisect (pronounced BEI-sekt or bei-SEKT) is “to divide into two usually equal parts”; to dissect (pronounced di-SEKT, DEI-sekt, or dei-SEKT) is “to take apart, to separate into pieces” and figuratively “to analyze in minute detail by breaking down into component parts.”  1
