aim (v.)

Aim combines regularly both with to followed by an infinitive and with at followed by a gerund: We aim to please [at pleasing] as many as possible. Although aim to has much Conversational use in Southern and South Midland dialects, it is current Standard spoken English and can appropriately appear in all levels of written English as well.  1
