The Standard pronunciation is zo-AHL-uh-jee or, in rapid speech, zuh-WAHL-uh-jee. The pronunciation zoo-AHL-uh-jee—formerly discouraged by the diaresis English once used to make clear the first two syllables—is Nonstandard and possibly even a Substandard shibboleth among some Standard speakers.  1
