chutzpah, chutzpa (n.)

means “brashness, audacity, brass.” Conversational or Informal in most circumstances, this word is also labeled slang in some dictionaries, but in jocular use it seems to be gaining status. Pronounce it either HUTS-pah or KHOOTS-pah. See YIDDISH WORDS IN AMERICAN ENGLISH.  1
