| Someone abstracted or figuratively absent is wrapped up in thought; someone distracted is shaken, clearly unable to concentrate; someone agitated is excited, upset; someone absent-minded is forgetful and inattentive. The adverbs are similarly distinctive. See also DISTRAIT. | 1 |
