-burgh, -burg (suffix)
 
 
The suffixes on the names of these American cities, Pittsburg, California, and Pittsburg, Kansas, are all pronounced like that in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, -BUHRG, whereas Scotland’s Edinburgh ends in the pronunciation -BUHR-uh. But burgher is always pronounced BUHRG-uhr.  1
