fortissimo (adv., adj., n.)

The three parts of speech mean respectively “very loud,” “very loudly,” and “a very loud passage,” and the noun has two plurals in English: the regular fortissimos and the Italian fortissimi. All are music terms, but they can be used figuratively too. See FOREIGN PLURALS; PLURALS OF NOUNS ENDING IN -O.  1
