pistil, pistol, pistole (nn.)
 
 
Pistil and pistol are homophones, pronounced PIS-tuhl; a pistil is the seed-carrying organ of a flower, and a pistol is a small handgun. A pistole, pronounced pis-TOL, was a gold coin, usually but not always Spanish.  1
