paraphernalia (n.)
 
 
is a Latin plural form, and in English it can be treated as either plural or singular, there being no special singular form in English: The paraphernalia professional golfers carry in their bags is [are] considerable. It can be either a mass noun (Paraphernalia requires …) or a count noun (These paraphernalia require …). See FOREIGN PLURALS.  1
