daresay, dare say

The one-word spelling is a verb in itself, used only in the first person: I [we] daresay we’ll wish we’d stayed. But it can also be spelled as two words: I dare [to] say [that] he will be sorry to have missed the meeting. Daresay can be followed by a clause, either with or without that: I daresay [that] there will be no objection. Note that the two-word spelling can appear as a subjunctive or an indicative in the third person singular: If he dare[s] say anything unpleasant, I’ll leave.  1
